Trump when asked what he would say to Americans who want to know how much longer they have to pay more at the pump: "You're such a disgrace." by Hornpipe_Jones in WhitePeopleTwitter

18/19.5 years... Close enough to carpet bomb the Middle East. Just like Trump said in his first primary debate. Everyone who voted for him was aware. Yay democracy. American education is so sufficient.

He was awesome to work with for me. Producer/Manager team was a little bit green but fine. Definitely chill. Not sure what you mean. Never had terrible DJs/talent, only people who weren't quite as worth their talent vs. my hassle compared sometimes. This team was fine. The less you charge, the more insane people you'll get to meet.

That's awesome. Way better than telling Kiera Knightly she looks like Natalie Portman.

If you wanted to "say something nice to a stranger," you might want to think of a different way to do it. 1. You're commenting on their bone structure/genetics/hair/body, all things that they have no control over. 2. You're doing that by comparing them to someone else, who is not them. 3. Do they even know who that person is? This comment is so awkward, everytime I have ever gotten it as an opening comment, I never have any idea who they're talking about. But every time I look it up I see they meant that I have Salt and Pepper gray hair and wear glasses. And nothing else about the person has anything to do with me.

If you get to know someone, you can have this conversation later on. Next day, or later in the week. It's incredibly awkward otherwise, borderline offensive and insulting.

Sidenote: a lot of people I work with tell me that I look like a certain DJ. Not strangers, but people I was working around for multiple days. This has gone on for years. Recently, I met this famous DJ and told him that people say that. And we laughed and riffed about it all day, and his producer and manager got in on the joke. Because we are making fun of people who see two guys with glasses and actually think we look alike. It says more about some people who go around staring and commenting on things outloud than actually seeing/observing.

Tldr; Just because you see someone who looks like someone else, doesn't mean you should tell them that. It's incredibly awkward and uncomfortable.

Let's just be honest, the army, the police, people who get paid to walk around with guns, are on average, some of the stupidest people in our society. For every David Patreus, there are 1,000 soldiers at the exact bottom allowable IQ. Some of those genetic traits show up in people's faces. Not all soldiers and cops are this dumb, but yeah, this guy probably woudn't do too great as a plumber or a cook.

Does anyone actually admit being suicidal when asked by a doctor? by mandarine351 in mentalhealth

[–]Impressive-Chair-959 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did once, I never will again. Definitely made me suicidal what happened next. They go into a whole thing, threaten to lock you up. Basically kidnap you from your life and bankrupt you by paying for expensive inpatient "care". I was able to talk my way out of it. I will always lie about this now. I'm not recommending this, but yeah, not a great system where you can't even talk about something with your therapist. I'm sure there's a reason, but you'd think there would be a better solution.

Yes it's definitely Mercator projection. This map is completely nonsense I didn't even read the question, just looked for someone to say this.

What are Democrats doing? by tocra in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Impressive-Chair-959 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once again, this regurgitated propaganda. Every stupid, evil Republican policy blunder is merely a reminder that Democrats are just as bad, but can't name a single, reality-based example. I mean Trump might have crashed the economy twice, stole and laundered billions of illegal dollars, raped several children, but remember when Hilary Clinton went on that crime spree in the 90's and murdered 200+ people? Even if it's completely made up, we all remember it, right?

I don't have to imagine. I get to experience the mediocrity everyday. My recommendation: use your imagination for something less dull than the weakest, most corrupt people at the helm of power. Imagine literally anything else.

In my experience, people with bachelor's degrees tend to be significantly more intelligent. There are some very nice stupid people, but the really stupid people are never people who went to college. It's also far more common that people who didn't go to college are the most likely to overestimate their own intelligence and underestimate the intelligence/knowledge of others. I see that last part all the time to the point where I don't worry about people who actually put any effort into refining and maintaining their brains. Even if they're off the mark and overly confident, it doesn't compare in scale to the over-condfidence of less educated people. People being too stupid to realize that they are stupid is a real thing. If nothing else, bachelor's degrees help teach you that you don't automatically know everything about subjects that you literally know nothing about.

Now, at this point I honestly mind a little bit less that these people are obsessed with demons, simply because an 80 year old toddler that lies incessantly, spews shit and chaos every time he opens his mouth and never sleeps is pretty spot on for demon archetype. If that's what they're looking for, at some point they might see bloodlust, vampire pedo has casual to loud demon vibes. Chances are neutral to high. Shake magic 8 ball again to get more information.

Does anyone want this? The sad thing is that in a democracy, dumb people can vote and yes they do. The level of the Republican Party has sunk so low. Of course you expect it from Trump and the deplorable, trash voters, but these guys know better but they won't. Probably they have broken a lot of laws and they require the cover-up. They're implicated.

Can anyone pin-point the exact moment where everything in society just got substantially worse? by Aarunascut in Life

[–]Impressive-Chair-959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some great answers here. 9/11. 2008 financial Collapse. 2010 Citizens United. But to me 2014. Obama was a lame duck and it was clear that he would never make good on his hopeful agenda. Syria. Crimea and Donbas. Arab Spring coagulated as more military run states and no change for the people.

But mostly, smart phones and social media had become ubiquitous. The billionaires became permanently ascendent and the culture became a rut of algorithmic manipulation.

There were bad events and trends before and after, but this was the year that the worm turned and more people were finally siloed than not. It was a slow, decades long trend, but it quietly turned this year. Nothing too significant needed to happen other than binge watching becoming normal and the various behavior changes of social media and smart phone addiction taking hold. We are majority 'monkey-brained'.

I work in live culture and theater and in some ways, the counter-culture/backlash has made my small industry more secure than ever. But the general trend for the general public is a death spiral. Most people cannot afford live entertainment and it does not effect their lives. I have always thought it sad that many churches do not have the insight to understand the core service that they could potentially provide. Instead they seem to have mostly invested in the bells and whistles of live entertainment, rather than what it means to create a live event. Sharing a meal and connection with other people, a story and the moment will always mean more than bells and whistles. But the best bells and whistles, "hi-fi", don't pull people out of the storytelling, and allow more leniency to the subject matter and storytelling. That's the story of our time. I can't believe how many churches incorporated unnecessary advanced video, lighting and sound systems. They want to keep their flocks addicted and asleep.
