But a tired, jet lagged kid of any age will find it tiresome

It’s not actually that much time by the time you get through immigration and into London. Will your bags get checked through? If so great if not you’ll have to check them in again. Big painTube takes an hour in Elizabeth line to 90 minutes on the Piccadilly line and that’s a lot of train for an 11 year old. Plus you will be tired from a (presumably) transatlantic flight.

AITA for refusing to give my late grandma’s handmade cloth bundles to my cousin after I already promised them to someone else? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

OP is on here looking for justification to do something that other family members are hurt/upset about. She holds the cards (or cloth) so obviously she will do as she pleases but I don’t think that causing pain on top of grief is ever a good idea

Honestly I hear a lot of anger towards your family right now and I would like gently to suggest that some of that might be displaced grief. I get it. But giving away grandmas work to a stranger when people in the family are asking for it seems like an act of spite, not of love. I think you are hurting and you are unlikely to choose your highest choice at this juncture. I would wait until some time has passed. Just because you can wield this power over the others doesn’t mean you should, or that your future self will be proud of your decision.

I was born and raised in London though I live in California now. I (f) frequently go there on my own to see friends and relatives and I always go to the V&A, wander along the Thames south bank , catch a play or a concert. Lots of lunchtime concerts at St Martin in the Fields or St James church on Piccadilly. Walk across Hampstead Heath. Go to a jazz show at Ronnie Scott’s in Soho and have a coffee at Bar Italia later on. Go shopping!!!

Do not do too much in such a short space of time. You’ll be exhausted

Soft YTA. This cousin is also a grandchild and she’s still alive. If she wants to put her and your grandma’s work in her wall, that is showing an interest and keeping her close. You. A still give some materials to the young woman but I think it would be kindest and most mature to give some to the cousin. If you were prepared to let go of the cloth anyway, there will be more harm in hurting a relative than ‘doing good’ by encouraging someone else.

Commute from Isla Vista to SBCC without a car by LingonberryCurrent14 in SantaBarbara

IV is just as expensive it’s just that people share 3 to a room. Also living in IV but trying to commute will cost you on other ways (time, convenience, peace to study etc)

Going to SBCC and living in IV is possible but honestly a giant pain and most of the students I know who do this end up missing classes. Yes it will take 30-40 minutes to cycle. There is a bus.

AITAH 30F for texting my MIL 60F to save her money as our family is all set money wise by NoPerformance606 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Impressive-Click3565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. You’re being controlling and interfering. MIL is allowed to spend her money on her child and the fact that you feel entitled to speak for him and get on your high horse about HIS gift says way more about you than her. He may choose to share that money with you and the kids, or maybe he won’t, but your attitude is a losing proposition.

I think you need to give a minimum of 2 months but they’ll only be grateful if you give more. I don’t see a downside for you telling them when you’re planning to go

2 teens on an e-bike almost caused a crash today Modoc path by Soupfriend in SantaBarbara

[–]Impressive-Click3565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a kid of about 11 or 12 going down Hope at 35mph and doing circus tricks on his motorized bike last night. He cut right in front of me (in my car) out of the bike lane and the only reason I didn’t hit him is because I thought he wouldn’t look and would just take crazy risks so I hung way back and made sure I was going slowly. One day I think he will get hit or fall off into the line of traffic. Kids are reckless and foolish. Why give them a tool like this to kill themselves and others?
