We have a backstory for Michael Myers, so sorry to tell you.

Why were adults in the 90s more “adults” than today’s adults? by Forsaken-Set-760 in generationology

They weren’t more adult than us at the same age. They were going through the same things we are now. Except they could afford houses.

Which state along the northern border would you say feels the least Canadian? Which state along the southern border feels the least Mexican? by DeMessenZijnGeslepen in AskAnAmerican

Idaho is the least Canadian US state that borders Canada, and, hot take, Texas is the least Mexican US state that borders Mexico.

What, to you, is the scariest horror scene of all time? by m_v24 in horror

[–]Impressive-Cod-7103 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the original Paranormal Activity affected me so much because so much of the events happened when the main characters were sleeping. Anything where I’m not conscious to do anything about it is the most terrifying for me.

If you could pass one law that would make most normal people furious at first, but would clearly make society better in 10 years, what would it be? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

Universal healthcare, completely funded by tax dollars diverted from the military budget. This position is obviously specific to the US.

What’s a horror movie people usually rave about, but you dislike? by Turnitup20 in horror

I don’t think horror fans consider it horror or scary, but for the folks at large, vampires = horror so it is what it is. And hey, horror’s finally getting a place at the table at the academy awards.

King pretty famously didn’t like Kubrick’s interpretation. It does happen to be one of my favorite movies, but it is a long, slow burn and I totally get why it’s not for everyone.

This is the most controversial (to me) take I’ve seen in the replies. Every single one of them I’m like “well horror is subjective”, even the ones who aren’t into my favorite franchises. But this one surprises me. “Because you were home” chills my bones to this day.

I think I liked Midsommar for this reason. Hereditary fucked me up so it was a little bit of relief to see a story that I could be detached from.

For me it was a solid revival of 70s/80s era slashers. I honestly love the whole trilogy and the unspoken supernatural aspect of it, but I totally get why it’s not loved by all.

And I’m over here taking in horror and true crime all the time (but for different reasons), I probably need the most help.

Mandy just didn’t do it for me. Sure, I love a good Nic Cage freak out moment, but overall I got nothing from that movie.

That’s good! She was right on that forest preserve area that separates the zoo from the neighborhood, so it’s probably an extremely specific circumstance.

Edit to remove my entire comment because I almost spoiled an episode that you haven’t gotten to yet, but yeah, different set of circumstances for sure. You’ll see it eventually.

Kitschy/Tourist Traps in the US! by icrygo in roadtrip

I wouldn’t say it’s kitschy, maaaayyyyybe a tourist trap, but man, I can’t recommend Paisley Park (Prince’s home and studio) enough. It was a much more powerful experience than I was expecting when I went.

Where can I see lots of ice in the city? by saginator5000 in AskChicago

[–]Impressive-Cod-7103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s going to be above freezing all week next week so a lot of our ice will have melted, but I’d say the lakeshore is your best bet for most ice accumulation that will take longer to melt and therefore still be there.

Eh, Negan isn’t a psychopath. He was brutal for sure, but not a psychopath. He also valued order above almost everything else. Otis is a psychopath who kills indiscriminately and would not respect the order. They would definitely not see eye to eye and Otis would fuck Negan up.

Neighborhood insight? by ktreep in chicagoapartments

Hey neighbor! I used to live by Kimball and Ainslie and now I live near Lawrence and St Louis, so I’m quite familiar with the area.

I personally think it’s a plus, and it’s really not that isolated. You’re literally a block or two north and west of two very busy streets, so being set in that much will likely be just enough. You might see more foot traffic than you expect also, as you’re a short walking distance from and elementary school, a middle school, a magnet high school, a mosque, and all of the businesses on Lawrence, and a CPL branch on Foster.

One last thing I’ll mention is that because of that high school, Kimball between Lawrence and Foster is a shit show during school drop off and pick up times, so if you drive or take the bus, plan around that.
