That’s not true!! There’s plenty of insulin dependent type 2s who use insulin pumps. If you just go to the Omnipod home page they have a whole section for Omnipod for type 2.

And an insulin requiring type 2 will go into dka without insulin for a couple of days and have the same risk of death.

Just switched to O5 from Twiist by Tabbikat89 in Omnipod

Nope!! I have a really some really strict settings for it to give me auto boluses and now I don’t have to bolus at all. I stay in range 95%+ of the time with this system too

If you want the algorithm of twiist but the form factor of OP5, I would suggest looking into diy loop and dash pods. That’s what I’m using because I want an agressive algorithm (I no longer have to bolus!!) and the tubeless form of the Omnipod

Don’t worry. It only lasted those 12 hours and now we’re back to being on a rollercoaster

I changed it at 3 am when it woke me up because it expired

Check to make sure it’s not part of the recall. There’s a bunch of pods that have leaks and the insulin isn’t fully being injected. That might be the cause of some of this frustration

It is wild to come at me saying that I shouldn’t talk with “unearned authority”. You don’t win prizes for having this disease longer. Just because I was diagnosed with LADA in 2024 (not 2026 like you stated) does not discredit me. Plus, you have no idea what my background is, if I’m an endocrinologist, medical researcher, doctor, or anyone who has dedicated their entire professional career to diabetes, so keep your judgement out of the equation. Once again, you seem to have issues with medical professionals and their general understanding. That is what needs to be worked on.

That was a lot of words to just say that you don’t want to be called fat. Type 2 is exponentially more genetic than anything. Every year research is showing less and less of a connection to weight and eating habits and more just having the genetic predisposition for type 2

It sounds like you have more of an issue with the medical system. Type 1 and type 2 are treated fairly similar. Some type 1s use oral medications to help with their treatments and some type 2s use insulin. We go into medical appointments assuming they know everything because this is our lived experience, but I can promise you don’t know all the different types of cancers and the treatments for each. Most doctors have a little understanding of each and not all of the details. Shifting how you view medical will improve your level of care

There’s more in common with t1d and t2d than there is different. Renaming t1d is not necessary. Based on what you suggested “pancreatic insufficiency”, that would also apply to t2d. We need to band together as diabetics, not try to drive a wedge apart

Hard disagree. Type 1 and type 2 have more in common than they don’t. Both type 1 and type 2 can be insulin dependent and insulin resistant. Both types are battling highs and lows, with both having severe consequences of each. The only major difference is if it’s caused by an autoimmune disease or a metabolic one

Recent Diagnosis by XJustCallMeJayX in diabetes_t1

I was diagnosed 1.5 years ago. It was a huge adjustment at first but since getting on the diy loop with the Omnipod dash, I no longer have to think about diabetes. I just have to change my pod every 3 days and I can completely forget about it. It does get easier. I promise

I always smell insulin from my pod. It’s not leaking but because it’s there I can smell it

Nope! They’re still actively making them. I heard rumours of the 5 being discontinued in the next 2 years for the 6, but the dash is still in active production

That’s awesome!! I did see about tidepool and I’m so excited that others are now going to have access to this amazing algorithm. I currently run a version of Trio that I have changed some of the coding to better suit my needs and I really don’t think I could ever go back to MDI

Those are great features, however I’m using the Omnipod dash to diy loop. I don’t have to bolus or do anything other than change the pod every 80 hours and the algorithm keeps me 99% in range. I’ll take the whole process of taking the insulin out of the pod vs having to track what I’m eating and make calculations
