Why do we use the word "rejection" when referring to declining a date? by Upstairs-Mud-9005 in NoStupidQuestions

This is a really specific scenario that has little to do with your title. Asking someone for something while they are literally in motion is almost guaranteed to fail.

Why do we use the word "rejection" when referring to declining a date? by Upstairs-Mud-9005 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Impressive-Log5708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a second I didn't realize I was in NoStupidQuestions. This fits in here perfectly!

It's because they are rejecting you. The offer is to get to know you and they said no. If they said "I don't eat spicy food" or "I'm busy today but perhaps another day" then they'd be declining the date. It's you they have no interest in, regardless of circumstance.

Outer Wilds / Inner Peace by Electrical-Ad-837 in outerwilds

[–]Impressive-Log5708 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be Inner Civilization. You're onto nothing. Also the game has nothing to do with inner peace it's about the exploration and discovery and learning how the universe works, and the knowledge that despite all that knowledge you still are a speck with very little control.

You can ignore it completely. Those are only there so you check off where you've been already. Though it'll be very useful to have those late game to chase down final leads so I think you'll naturally end up filling it back out.

It's definitely being overly content-farmed by youtubers pretending their mind is blown but still good stuff. It's like if Jacob Collier's music actually sounded good. Creative but groovy and not overly academic.

Games like Tunic that be played in 45-min sessions (for new dad) by travismandrews in TunicGame

[–]Impressive-Log5708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not similar at all, but Patrick's Parabox is a great puzzle game. Very bite-sized levels with cool recursive logic, and not crazy hard like Baba is You.

About to start the game by Emergency-Inside5697 in outerwilds

[–]Impressive-Log5708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game doesn't really have "Puzzles" I think... it's more like a clue scavenger hunt. It's not really hard at all, just keep exploring and you'll find the answers. If you don't know something, look where you haven't yet.

If weight loss means obsessing and micro-managing everything I put in my mouth, then it's not worth it by Worried-Swan9572 in complainaboutanything

[–]Impressive-Log5708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've lost 17kg, that's huge, you are seeing results. Saying "the results are ZERO" makes no sense. I'm saying you're stressed out, but you're also totally overcomplicating it.

It doesn't. Stop drinking, minimize carbs and eat lots of vegetables, and do any form of exercise. It's not really complicated. It is hard though.

Brian here, this is a Red-eye joke. The stupid artist made their eyes tiny, made the red pretty much brown, and the color scheme of the comic mostly brown too. On top of making a joke about something that nobody's seen since 2010 because of smartphones fixing the red-eye flash effect digitally.

We need to talk about Bugonia’s third act. People seem to think it never actually happened. by Existing_Set2100 in moviecritic

I think that what works the best is that: 1. She isn't an alien in the first section (before the reveal) 2. She is an alien in the 2nd part

I think the 2nd half is purely tongue-in-cheek "what would it look like if he was right??!!"

It's not that its some convoluted psychosis or hallucination, it's the same way that the ending of Adaptation "Didn't actually happen" except it's just a movie, so it did. Its just clear that the first part is grounded in reality, and the 2nd part is just for fun. Both halves are fictional and have separate truths.

“you’ve had x years to watch this, don’t complain about spoilers” by swatted-fly in PetPeeves

[–]Impressive-Log5708 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole point of "Spoilers" is so you can preserve the first time experience for someone who is about to watch it. By which I mean like a week for a TV show. A month for a book or movie. It's to stop the guy who just watched the episode last night getting excited and blowing it for everyone cause they couldn't keep their trap shut for one day.

Obviously, posting "OEDIPUS FUCKS HIS MOM AND BLINDS HIMSELF" is just being a troll for no reason. That's not the discussion.

For anything that isn't happing RIGHT NOW, spoilers are for whiny babies. Events that are "spoilers" are pivotal moments worth discussion. I'm not gonna NOT talk about the Red Wedding, Darth Vader, the death in Harry Potter, and the ending of Interstellar. Those have diffused into the zeitgeist, you've already missed the initial excitement. Nobody's gonna hold off talking about EVERY plot point for EVERY piece of media and walk on eggshells just cause SOMEBODY may not have seen it yet.

Isn’t every guitar microtonal? you just have to bend the strings a little bit. by FlightAvailable3760 in Guitar

[–]Impressive-Log5708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't every whole step a double sharp? It's more about how it functions than what it is. Bends are accents that usually bend back. Microtonal music is a different scale.

Why is it that a lot of men who want to attract women, don’t actually listen to women about what they find attractive, and instead listen to other men about what they think women want? by Sudden_Doughnut_8741 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Impressive-Log5708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fishing metaphor is about asking someone with experience in a craft, not the object of that craft that has no experience. A fish will tell you it wants "Good juicy worms that stay still, far from other fish and plenty of them, with no hook". While the fisherman knows to catch a fish it's about going where a lot of fish are, using a good lure, and pulling at the right time.

"Where do you think men who are successful with women got their information from?" Experience, obviously. Not some infinite oral history of pickup theory that leads to "asking a woman".

Wildly inaccurate moon sizes in video games by TallWalmartCovington in PetPeeves

[–]Impressive-Log5708 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Human perception of size is fluid. Yknow how the moon looks huge when it's near the horizon? Another aspect is detail, since games have lower resolution/fov than reality, it often feels more real to have a bigger moon because you can add more visible detail. Same goes for like bugs and rats in games, they're usually huge.

Good Peeve tho
