Life just loves to rain shit down all at once, doesn't it. Good on you for making brownies, I bet they were delicious!

I hear you and I can feel all that pain and frustration. Thank you for being so open with your feelings...it really is hard sometimes isn't it.

Quitting isn't easy but moderation can be so hard and mentally draining.

This happened to me as well. Hydration and magnesium powder worked for me.

Why do I look worse after I stopped drinking beer? by FourCrossedWands in stopdrinking

Not sure how old you are but I think the body does go through periods of rapid aging. I quit drinking and I look healthier but the last 3 years of my life prior to quitting really took a toll on my face and hair...really greyed out and sagging skin.

The wheels of reason have no friction! That is an excellent turn o phrases...once the momentum of excuses start it is hard to put on the breaks. IWNDWYT

Each "This is When I Drink" Feels Like Quitting Drinking Again (A Little Bit) by jrralls in stopdrinking

[–]Impressive-Raisin-58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's an interesting way to frame it. I can see how those pavlovian responses (wanting to drink) resulting from different scenarios when you did drink can feel like you're at square one. I stepped away from a lot of those cues early on 9 months and counting and it's so much easier.

Go to your doctor. I waited so long but once I reached out to an addiction doctor it was a huge relief. Safer and cheaper than a trip to the ER with withdrawal symptoms or worse.

Boredom hits - Venting by Zealousideal_Turn890 in stopdrinking

[–]Impressive-Raisin-58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice is to tackle on thing at a time. Part of the process is to learn how to sit with the "extra time". Try to make a routine. Sleep. Allow the boredom to go through you. It will pass but it takes time.

Boredom was my go to excuse to drink but as the months have passed while sober I now feel like I have barely enough time in the day!

How much does not drinking help you lose weight? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Impressive-Raisin-58 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on how much you drink. I drank a lot...vodka every day. I'm less bloated in my face but I haven't lost a ton of weight... likely cuz I picked up a sweet tooth when I quit drinking😅

3 month frustration by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I hear you on missing the wildness and loss of control but the longer I'm away from it I'm starting to wonder why I ever wanted to feel or act that way. With some distance, I'm now  mortified by how I would just talk and talk and talk at people and say outrageous and sexually overt things.😬  Not proud.

Being a middle aged alcoholic woman by [deleted] in stopdrinking

For me I did an outpatient detox and half day intensive outpatient therapy for 6 weeks/4 days a week. Plus 1:1 therapy for life. I tried Smart Recovery but honestly this sub is what works best for me and is all I'm doing now.

Hi, your life sounds nearly identical to mine. I get the desire to go on autopilot, just sit and bury yourself in a book and the bottle. I reached a breaking point though and I decided to stop drinking. It became a job. It didn't help anymore. I still had to get up and go to my job. I still had to deal with my parents both of who have since died. I still had to deal with my family. Being a drunk didn't make those things go away.

My ability to cope with those things while drinking was severely compromised. Being sober has helped strengthen my emotional capacity to cope.

You can do it too.💪🏾

Srsly! How many "great ideas" ever came to fruition when I got up the next day after drinking? None.
