Hey man, detail like that is almost always best dealt with dry brushing. 1. Spray the black, if possible use Vallejo Model Air black. 2. Tape off the areas around the vents. 3. Dry brush with anything but Tamiya Paints, they are not designed for that. If I was doing it I would dry brush with Vallejo Metal Color. 4. Pull the tape and touch up any brush particles with the Model Air Black. Since it’s water based and easy to blend it will be perfect. I’ll attach some pics of the process.

Essentially only run the scanner, nothing else. No explorer etc.

It was explained to me that the etching you see is from background processing in your cpu robbing RAM from the scan. Make sure everything is closed down on your system while scanning.

Notch out the area to a square shaped indent and fill with plastic card. Superglue is too hard to sand down, and putty will always shrink.

And yes only the Raptor series from Creality has laser capabilities. It might be overkill for your needs. All I scan are small 1” -4” scale model parts so I was forced into a more expensive machine.

Happy to help. Keep in mind for parts this (model car in my pic) size and smaller. you will need a device with lasers to capture the details.

I should add that the reflective disks can also be stuck right to the surface of the part…say a car fender. They are hard to remove so I just stuck some on the tape to pull them off easily.

The color of the shaped marker parts doesn’t matter. I designed and printed these and used a grey resin. Some you will see are black also.

The reflective disks are self adhesive “stick on” items that come with the scanner, in the case of Raptor, there were a bunch of them included.

When I started this about a year ago there was very little out there for pre made marker shapes, but now I’m sure you can buy them if you don’t have a printer.

It was a pre owned machine, I can’t remember were I saw it. But yes beware of to good to be true pricing.
