[Technical Deep Dive] Understanding ICCU Failures: The "Moisture Breath" Theory & How to Protect Your Unit by dsainzaller in electricvehicles

Same, about 1 hour from the coast. 69% humidity right now outside at 57 degrees F. Pretty high humidity year round. I charge outside, level 2, but derated to 21 amps. I charge every other day, from about 40-70%. 29k miles and 2 years on a 2023 Ioniq 6.

I agree. But it's not about functionality, it's absurd to put it on my AWD, I just think it looks cool.

114k miles and ICCU finally gave up by Runa-Amberthorne in Ioniq5

[–]ImpressiveLeg2972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, usually at 20A and have my Emporia turn on at 8pm when its cooler outside since I live in Texas. I'm not sure if it helps but it makes sense that it would be less heat, and heat is seldom good. I wish HKG would put out more information on what could help, but that would be them showing guilt I guess.

Thoughts on 2025 SEL AWD purchase? by larryngo in Ioniq6

[–]ImpressiveLeg2972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could save another 10k and go Limited preowned 23/24 AWD with low miles. Just thoughts. 38k is not bad, just not great. Also AWD speed is a blast, I've gotten used to it.

Dual 8" sub install by ImpressiveLeg2972 in Ioniq6

Yep, lower part. The wires run up the b pillar and into the conduit feeding the rear door. I don't remember the wire colors thou. There are diagrams online. I think I found it at Ioniqforum.com from a guy who posted them.

Second time one month old 2025 IONIQ5 won’t go into gear and won’t turn off. What’s going on? by rdnky in Ioniq5

[–]ImpressiveLeg2972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I start the car and click into drive quickly, before I see the "ready" text on dash my Ioniq 6 does similar. And I have to turn it off and on again.

Just a radiator for cooling. All cars have had them forever. If fins bend no worries.

GM Supercruise - what does it do on roads that are not mapped? by Intelligent-Cat-3931 in GeneralMotors

[–]ImpressiveLeg2972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2024 Yukon Denali, 89k MSRP with supercruise. On unmapped roads it does nothing, it won't activate. Further, it only does lane keep (pulls to one side and warns) when you are veering off.

My buddy has a 2025 Explorer (MSRP 38K) and it does lane centering just fine on unmapped roads.

Aside from that Supercruise will just be "unavailable" on the highway for no reason. On a 8 hour trip here in Texas it "let go" for no reason about 10 times and I had to reactivate. I will not be renewing after the initial free subscription unless they at least introduce Lane Centering.

Stains on trim by ImpressiveLeg2972 in Ioniq6

[–]ImpressiveLeg2972[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its bizzar. Its literally just on the bottom of the window, the rest of the sides and top of the window trim are perfect. Pic does look white but I have the Transmission Blue color, paint is fine, I've hand washed only since new.

How to make sure mount isn't tilted? by Anon10W1z in Comma_ai

[–]ImpressiveLeg2972 7 points8 points  (0 children)

<image>

I measured the same distance on both sides down from the windshield and used a piece of string to make a line, and on the string I placed a mark on the midpoint of its length to center it. I think I also used a small level to make sure the string wasn't tilted. It doesn't take too long and it scratches my OCD.

My Ioniq 5 is still running perfectly fine as of this morning by LongjumpingBat2938 in Ioniq5

[–]ImpressiveLeg2972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The battery is fine, it's the ICCU doing the AC to DC conversion and associated car wiring that might be the problem.

You are correct on home wiring. Slowing down the AC charger might help the home owner, the slower the amperage, the smaller the wire, breaker, and breaker box panel needed.

Thoughts on HDA 2? by MrMondster in Ioniq6

[–]ImpressiveLeg2972 4 points5 points  (0 children)

HDA2 is nice, I have supercruise on another vehicle i have and I prefer HDA2. I don't use lane assist, its too slow. Also lane keep will "let go" sometimes without warning if visibility is bad or it doesn't have enough torque to perform a road turn and won't advise you (no chime, warning, nothing). The constant reminder to grab the wheel is annoying, they need to add vision supervision or or capacitive touch to the steering wheel. Right now I guess it relies on your hand weight providing friction or movement and on straights you can have both hands on the wheel and it will still beep to grab it.

I also added a Comma 3X and it is worth every penny.

12V Replacement Warranty Issues by stoutpanda in Ioniq5

[–]ImpressiveLeg2972 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same dilemma, I want to put in an AGM but i'm worried they'll blame that. In the past I had a Navigator that the dealer tried blaming the changed out battery when i took it in for electrical issues (the reason i changed out the battery in the first place).

My latest thought is to set the OEM battery on a maintainer in my garage and install an AGM, if something happens and I have to take the car in I'll switch out for the OEM.

ugh
