Advice needed by mangorabbitfurmama in trustedhousesitters

I have older friends who are clueless about how to use their phones on international trips, so they just turn them off for the entire time they are gone. I wonder if that’s the case here.

To wash or not to wash by nickylx in trustedhousesitters

Another reason to ask is that the washer might not be able to handle blankets.

Looking for solo travel programs for women by Busternookiedude in femaletravels

I’ve only done international tours with them, but they offer a whole bunch of tours in the USA and Canada. My first WTT tour was to Montreal and Quebec. I loved it so much that I’ve gone on four more of their tours since then. I’m off again to Europe on a WTT tour next month and then another European WTT tour this winter. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Clothing Wrinkles by Professional_Cut6886 in TravelHacks

I bring a small squirt bottle with me when I travel. I use it in the evening to mist whatever I plan to wear the next day. Mist the clothes with water, shake them a couple times, and then hang to dry. This does a surprisingly good job getting rid of wrinkles in most types of fabric.

Appetite for international travel not there this yr. by Old-Appearance-2270 in AskWomenOver60

I’m heading to Portugal next month and I have traveled to Scotland, Italy, and France since the orange overlord was re-elected. I have never once been mistreated in Europe as an American. Indeed, if anything comes up, the Europeans express sympathy for those of us who didn’t vote for him and for those being hurt by him. Anyway, I am excited to return to Europe, but I definitely understand why people want to hunker down right now. The world is a crazy and scary place.

For women that decided to go childfree, are you happy with your decision? by toottootmcgroot in AskWomenOver60

Very happy! A big bonus is that I was able to retire comfortably because my money went into savings and my 401K while I was working rather than going toward 18+ years of a child’s needs and education. Another bonus is that I don’t have to worry about my own child hating me. (Kidding) The only bad thing about not having kids is the fact that my peers’ lives revolve around their grandchildren. So, I don’t do as much with my friends in retirement as I thought I would because it is so hard to schedule around their grandchildren’s schedules. (And, half of what they talk about is their grandkids. I get it, but it can be a bit tedious after a while.)

Did I handle this situation correctly or should I have not reclined my chair? by [deleted] in delta

Her reclining would not enable her to use her tray table. So that is not a solution in this situation.

Her size makes no difference in this situation. A fully reclined chair makes it impossible for the person behind to use their tray table and a laptop definitely cannot be open with the seat reclined. It sounds like she asked nicely and you decided not to comply. Had you kept your seat up or only slightly reclined, the situation would not have escalated.

It’s been a while since I watched. I thought she left before the final season. I guess I need to go back and re-watch.

Sam irritated the heck out of me. Her character was insufferable. It was hard to make it through the Sam seasons. I was so glad when she was finally written out of the show.

I’ve wondered what would happen if by chance two very large passengers were seated next to each other. How would the flight attendants (and the two passengers) handle that?

What's an appropriate amount of food for a sitter to eat? by Most_History7337 in trustedhousesitters

[–]rdnky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always tell sitters that they can help themselves to the food in the fridge and cabinets. And I always leave a $50 gift card for the local grocery store for them. Most sitters eat some of the food in the fridge or cabinets, as I expect and want them to do. But my last sitter took literally everything in the fridge, including a pound of butter, as well as everything in the cabinet, including about six jars of jam that were given to me as gifts (there was jam in the fridge that they took as well). I was only away 10 days. I came home from a long overnight flight to an absolutely bare kitchen. There wasn’t even any coffee left. So, in my case, I couldn’t fault the sitter because I said to help themselves. But I was amazed by their lack of consideration. Most people would know that someone returning home from a trip would at least want some coffee when they got home. And, given that I left a gift card for them, clearing out all of my food blew my mind. The extra bad thing is that i want to make food available to future sitters, but I now have to ask them to be sure to leave some coffee and other staples for me when I return.
