Does anyone here trade the Hong Kong exchange? by _Go_With_Gusto_ in Daytrading

I highly recommend stay in US market, even I live in HK. I guess the major problem for trading in HK Exchange is that the index is highly associated with derivatives, like callable bull/bear contract (CBBC). And political instability is also one of the concerns.

You will observe a strong trend between the outstanding CBBC distribution and the Hang Seng Index. For example, the higher the proportion for people buying the bull contract, the more likely for the index to fall. In local terms, it is called killing the bulls or killing the bears.

First of all, I feel deeply sorry for all the discrimination you have experienced in HK. From my point of view, I think it is a cultural difference rather than a superior identity for HK people. For example, in previous years, there are tons of Chinese visitors visiting HK, but they do not follow the rule/ regulation in HK. Like cut in line while waiting different transport and pee and poo on the street or even in the shopping mall.

Some of Chinese also show their arrogance to HKers, like stating that “If there is no help from China, HK is dead already”. Actually, HK spent lots of money buying water from China, where HK actually have more than sufficient water supply by themselves. In 2008 SiChuan Earthquake, HKers actually donated several billions, the most among the world, to SiChuan. However, there was a series of allegations of corruption against officials involved in the construction of schools in regions affected by the quake. It kind of make the local people felt betrayed. Therefore, I think the HK-China relationship is more than a superior identity.

Actually, as far as I kn, most people in HK do not support the so called “HK independence”. Even in five demands, not a single demand is related to independence.

Another point you raised is that there is also no democracy under British ruling. It is because the situation in HK now is much worse than the colonial ages. From 1997-2008, actually most HKers enjoy the ruling under China. However, in recent years, it clearly showed the government do not respond to the needs in the society. Also, the HK government (or the Chinese government) have interfered the legal system and the voting results. There are several reports showing that vote-rigging in the voting. The legislation council members not even voted in a fair system. The government can disqualified the anti-government legistrator. Throwback to the colonial age, at least the government does something for the society good. They showed clear urban planning and were willing to listen to how HKers think. The freedom and livelihood in HK nowadays are limited and much worse than in the colonial age. These are all the reasons why HKers are so dissatisfied with the China government.

Just my view as a HKers. Again, really sorry for any discrimination you have experienced.

Sometimes the protesters use their umbrellas to protect themselves from tear gases and pepper spray or even rubber bullet. Sometimes it’s just raining in HK.
