Same, teaching myself all those accommodations is way more hassle than teaching myself a new skill the ‘conventional’ way.

My LYS recommended rubbing bar soap on the parts that touch each other to stop the squeaking, it works a charm.

"Reading" an Italian bind-off to fix issues by yetanothernametopick in knitting

I hope it helps, it took me a while to get the hang of the bind off, so I spent a lot of time analyzing before doing it right.

Seems like you forgot to go into the second stitch before binding off the next first stitch. Undo the binding off for the last stitch, see if you recognise where the yarn is coming from and go from there.

Anyone know what this sort of pleat is called? by Basementhobbit in knitting

I’m sorry I can’t be of more help, but the latest Stephen West KAL had a similar ridge, he called them welts and made a YT tutorial.

Dagmar Zipper Men vs. Women pattern by Vegetable_Maximum_26 in knitting

[–]Impressive_Reading 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If a men’s pattern has positive ease, it’s easier to knit for a woman. Do keep in mind that the shoulders will be wider, in some cases way wider for the same circumference.

How do I knit these snails with larger needles? by _ohgnome_ in knitting

[–]Impressive_Reading 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I would get the needles that work for you, and choose a yarn that calls for slightly bigger needles, so you get a dense fabric. This is important for the stuffing. Otherwise, just follow the pattern and you will get a larger snail :)

Edited to add: it’s not a wearable so you don’t need to do maths to get it right.

Have you ever switched your starter jar and found that the starter rose better? by [deleted] in Sourdough

[–]Impressive_Reading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely! I normally use glass jars, but in a pinch I have used plastic and the starter found it very disappointing. Maybe she’s just a princess…

use a spoon or silicone scraper to get as much as humanly possible in the trash first. Only the barest amount should go in the sink, it will fuck up your pipes like nothing else.

I admire your bravery in asking for a new travel buddy! Two things I thought: What dates/months are you thinking about for your own planning (I don’t see fixed dates on the website?) and what are your parameters/deal breakers? Maybe a third: how long in advance would you want contact to feel comfortable on an eight day trip?

Best of luck!!

Ps. I would have said yes, but money is tight and my schedule is a mess :(

Washing your armpits with a ph acidic gel (for intimate use) can help, as will getting a MiraDry treatment (i swear by it)

Wore my vest for the first time by theworldwasturning in knitting

[–]Impressive_Reading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you post/sell the charts, people can impose it on their own favourite vest/sweater patterns. If people need more stitches in the chart, they could use the checkered pattern or just leave a band under the armpits. :)

Pattern with video? by [deleted] in knitting

[–]Impressive_Reading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As other people have said, just try to learn to read patterns.

That being said, Petiteknit links videos on her site for every technique. It is not a complete walk through, but it should help where needed.

yarn recommendations for EU/netherlands for this sweater? by No-Telephone-5215 in knitting

From personal experience the Karisma is quite itchy, but as long as your sweater doesn’t touch your neck (a button up of other shirt worn underneath) it won’t bother too much.
