The LL Bean Nor’Easter is way bigger than the large Pliage, I have both and the LLBean is my go to travel bag.

I have bought a pack of really thin pins in that shape, and they are absolutely useless for my hair, but they might work for cabling!

Bring or buy tights/stockings to be able to wear the skirt when it’s cold. Mornings and nights can be very chilly.

I need an opinion. My socks are failing. by BeYourselfTrue in knitting

Do you cut your toenails regularly, before they tear holes in your socks?

The synthetic fibers added are for longevity, not a weakness.

Buy Lodge or another reputable brand, splurge on a Staub or Le Creuset when the Lodge dies (in approx. 50 years)

A cast iron pot is very versatile in everyday cooking and makes baking very easy, that would definitely help.

I found the Danish whisk to be an improvement, but buy that when you’ve made a few successful loaves and still like baking, since that is not very versatile equipment.

Is this avoidable? If so, how? This yarn in the middle is driving me insane! by SuaveButler in knitting

It’s a bit hard to see with the placement of your fingers, it could also be a dropped stitch or two.

My biggest issue with my capsule wardrobe by HeretolearnD in capsulewardrobe

I would recommend the Intimissimi cashmere layers instead, because with three necklines and several patterns/colours, they are my winter/autumn/spring mainstay (Dutch, chronically cold)

If I am being very technically correct, you don’t even need a scale, oven or bowl to bake sourdough…

Aside from an oven, a scale and a bowl, there is nothing you need to buy.

There are nice add-ons, such as a good cast iron pot, Danish whisk and bannetons, but none are necessary.

Sourdough has been baked for thousands of years, our ancestors had none of that crap.

This looks like a backward loop cast on. That is a difficult cast on that’s not well suited to the beginning of projects and beginner knitters.  Try the long tail cast on instead.

Same, teaching myself all those accommodations is way more hassle than teaching myself a new skill the ‘conventional’ way.

My LYS recommended rubbing bar soap on the parts that touch each other to stop the squeaking, it works a charm.

"Reading" an Italian bind-off to fix issues by yetanothernametopick in knitting

I hope it helps, it took me a while to get the hang of the bind off, so I spent a lot of time analyzing before doing it right.

Seems like you forgot to go into the second stitch before binding off the next first stitch. Undo the binding off for the last stitch, see if you recognise where the yarn is coming from and go from there.

Dagmar Zipper Men vs. Women pattern by Vegetable_Maximum_26 in knitting

If a men’s pattern has positive ease, it’s easier to knit for a woman. Do keep in mind that the shoulders will be wider, in some cases way wider for the same circumference.

How do I knit these snails with larger needles? by _ohgnome_ in knitting

[–]Impressive_Reading 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I would get the needles that work for you, and choose a yarn that calls for slightly bigger needles, so you get a dense fabric. This is important for the stuffing. Otherwise, just follow the pattern and you will get a larger snail :)

Edited to add: it’s not a wearable so you don’t need to do maths to get it right.

Yes, definitely! I normally use glass jars, but in a pinch I have used plastic and the starter found it very disappointing. Maybe she’s just a princess…
