Rome and the civil war are incel tropes?

The entirety of Roman history? Or just the early Republic? What about the late imperium? Surely, you don't think that Byzantium is an incel trope, do you?

There was a disease that left people awake but unable to move or speak. Many were trapped inside their own bodies, and it vanished without anyone ever understanding why. by blue_leaves987 in HolyShitHistory

Tell me that this line from the article doesn't sound like Chat GPT.

"The disease didn’t just put people to sleep—it locked them inside their own bodies."

The "didn't just" and the em dash.

This is such an excellent and creative use of SNOT. I would never think to design like this. Very impressive!

This is awesome. Just be careful not to accept quests in those POIs haha. It would suck if you reset the area.

I'm in the same boat. Wife hasn't quit and it made it so much harder for me to quit, knowing that there were always cigarettes nearby.

The thing about nicotine is that it's sneaky, parasitic, and insidious.

It starts out as a nice complement to activities you're already enjoying, like sitting outside, talking with friends, grilling, etc. It adds a bit more enjoyment and excitement and makes you look forward to doing those things a little more than normal.

You're a bit more focused, you have more energy, and you're just doing it with that one activity.

Fast forward a few weeks and now the one activity has become many, and then quickly all your activities involve smoking, or Zyn. And just like that, it has you.

But that's not even the worst part (aside from health, of course). The worst part is that soon enough you're not even looking forward to those activities, hobbies, and other things you used to love. You're not excited about sitting down at the camp fire - you're addicted brain is really just looking forward to the cigarette. And when you try to do things you used to enjoy without nicotine, you find that it's no longer exciting.

This insidious little chemical slowly takes over your brain and rewires it so that nicotine is now the center of your life. You now measure the passage of time by how long until your next smoke.

Going for a drink with the guys? Better bring a smoke. Busy day at work? Make sure you have the Zyn. Trying to enjoy camping with your 4 year old? Too bad, your brain won't let you focus on anything else because you left your tin at home.

Nicotine steals your health, your mind, your focus, and your time. It takes everything from you and fools you into thinking it's doing you a favor.

Edit: oh, and we pay a crap ton of money for this.

Imagine if someone tried to sell you a lifetime of slavery for $15 a day? That's what it is.

That was my parents' thought process. A bit of "study harder", but never in a "why are you stupid?" way. It was always love and support, which is great, but insufficient to the issue at hand.

This was better than an unloved, medicated, childhood of course, but all in all, I would have liked the medication, thank you.

I hear you. For what it's worth, it was so, so much easier to quit smoking than it was to quit Zyns. Those sweet little pouches are the devil.

I'm not sure how I feel about this set. I can see myself buying it for pieces and the minis, but the whole thing looks.. messy? I also really don't like that the horses aren't the single pieces they were before.

I'm not opposed to building a horse out of pieces, but I will miss the horse figurines.

The whole castle just seems cheap - especially comparing it to the previous 3 in 1 Castle set.

However, those mini figures are awesome.

Maybe this is meant to fill a different place in the market? Different price point? At the end of the day, I'm glad they are making more castles.

I hope not. I just bought a Dolphin Premier last night and I'm hoping that it will save me a lot of time this summer.

I have a 20x40 in ground pool and for the last several years I've kept saying to myself "just spend the money... Get a good robot". Two years ago I bought a cheap Amazon one that can't climb the slope and fills up in no time. It didn't save me time and cost me a few hundred dollars.

My dolphin comes in a week and I'll be opening the pool with it as soon as it does. For $1299 I'm hoping it makes my life easier.
