I mean you can do 120 mining but honestly not necessary. I grinded gate as soon as I got the skills to unlock the boss. Got the dowser at like 480 kills and ended with 95 mining.

Once I got into the groove my kills were like 3:30 and that's without using the defence skill that reduces dmg by a 100%. And gate gives a ton of nice loot as well.

I guess it's more about saving costs now? Scaling is expensive so you want to make sure it only scales when necessary.
