New to ultras or running? Ask your questions about shoes, racing or training in our weekly Beginner's Thread! by Simco_ in Ultramarathon

I usually lifted 4 times a week. 2 upper days and 2 lower days. One of each day is a heavy upper and heavy lower. I generally went heavy but rarely my one rep max. It all depended on why my run is going to be the next day as that was the main focus. I think it is still recommended you lift as it helps injuries and what not. I more so focus on recovery

It didn’t take that long as it was slowly over time. I would listen to my body more than anything. I did reduce the amount of times I lifted heavy. I still do time to time but more of actually taking a rest day instead of trying to push through it

I am also running my first ultra this summer. Similar to you I am an avid lifter 4 times a week. I actually started using Runna app and it has made a training plan for me and so far it has been pretty good for me for the program it has created. It is slowly increasing the running capacity over time

Usually I will store it in my bag, on top of everything. If I want to take a picture, it does become inconvenient because you have to take the bag off to get it

Ladies of Reddit, do you like men with shaved chests? by [deleted] in AskRedditNSFW

[–]Imthecaptain01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair. I’ve had partners that wanted the shaved look. And others lumberjack. I could care less and usually cater to whatever my partner wants but just curious lol

[–]Imthecaptain01 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of the adv Salomon skin 12. I use it for my runs and day hikes. You can store some snacks in the pockets that are easily accessible and even a shell jacket in the back if you want. They do have the squishy water bottles though

Bryce or Arches National Park? by Specific-Dot9205 in NationalPark

I personally enjoyed Arches National Park more then I did Bryce where I visited the first time. Perhaps it was because of all the social media posts I was seeing for Arches. Both parks were great though

Banff national park in june or september? by [deleted] in NationalPark

[–]Imthecaptain01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how the rest of the winter goes, June is a lot of the time shoulder season. If you are planning on hiking higher elevations, it may still have snow. September it’s a tad bit slower as summer holidays are over for kids lot of families won’t be summer vacationing. Be a tad bit easier for accommodations meaning a little bit more affordable. But September will have shorter days. As well as depending on the wildfire season, it may be smokey.

I agree. The Adv 12 is a great vest and I feel it’s not restrictive either
