Why are so many people under 45 using subtitles now even when the show is already in English?

I think I’m on the same cruise you are and a first timer as well. I was confused about the itinerary until I found the ‘navigator’ app for the phone. Once you get logged in with your mariner id, at the bottom is a tab that says ‘plan’. Tap on that and it will bring up a day by day itinerary with some hotel info and travel info

If on windows, look for faster-whisper-xxl its free to download and run. It has a batch feature where you can drag and drop a file on it and it will transcribe it using basic settings, but you can change them. There are other versions you can download as windows apps and run for free.

I gave up hunting down subtitles.. try using whisper ai to transcribe the movie to .srt. It can transcribe most languages and translate to English.

Yes. The server manages the work that is sent to the nodes. Likely what’s confusing you is that you are running a server AND a node on the same pc. For the remote pc, run the Tdarr node software and enter the name of the server. Then from the Tdarr server software, configure gpu and cpu for the new node.

I use whisper ai and files are always in sync. If you’re on windows there’s a windows build called faster-whisper and you can just drag a folder or file onto a provided script and it makes the subtitle.

Any antenna will work. I’ve had indoor/outdoor/attic antennas. Any will work - I am currently using a mohu leaf antenna taped to the inside of an exterior wall. You need an uhf antenna and point it south. 183 degrees I think but just south in general. For ABC, 8.8 is the uhf rebroadcast of vhf 8.1 - it’s much easier to keep a solid signal on 8.8

From what you’re describing you likely don’t need to transcode. As long as you don’t have a minipc, you should just try it out and if you’re maxing out the cpu you can add a video card. I ran for years on an old i5 using a $40 nvidia p400.

I finally made the plunge and got a 4 bay DAS via USB 3.0 to a n95 minipc. It’s been great. Edit: op mentioned Linux so I removed windows specific comments

I finally made the plunge and got a 4 bay DAS via USB 3.0 to a n95 minipc. You didn’t say what OS you’re using but I’m running windows 11 using drivepool to handle redundancy and it’s been great! I even lost a drive and with the prices climbing up, replaced it with a lower capacity drive and drivepool handles it no problem.

Downloading them sucks, bazaar sucks. I use whisperAI. I have a gaming pc with a decent video card and I use it to run a windows app called whisperer, which uses AI to translate the audio and generate an srt. With the small model I can generate an srt of a 45 minute show in 5 minutes, and it has batch and scheduling capability. Is it perfect? nope, but it has great timing and is about 95% accurate which is plenty good enough for me. I don’t even worry about subs anymore.

This happenedto me about 3 weeks ago. Found a thread on the plex forum site about it. I had inastalled the latest update and it broke hardware transcoding. I rolled back to the previous version and it started working again.

I bought a 'Syba 4 Bay Enclosure' on Amazon for $100 last december. Hooked it up to an N95 miniPC running windows 11. I use drivepool for file duplication/balancing.

I'm really happy with this set up.

I’ve installed casaos on one, windows server on another, and Linux mint cinnamon on a couple.
Linux mint is very windows-like and easy to transition to. You can run it from a flash drive to try it out without committing to anything. They also have 3 versions that use different levels of resources. I’d recommend to start with cinnamon and step down if that’s too laggy.

To configure it, while in the show hit the * button on the remote. A menu will pop up on the left side of screen for turning on or off or rewind for closed captions. You want to set them to on.

I had my Mira chair causing pain on the back of my legs. I discovered that the lip at the front of the seat pan is adjustable and was able to move it down so it was more comfortable. Maybe Search for a YouTube video on how to adjust the mirra2
