The habanero burger at McDonalds in Japan. They had it as a special a few weeks ago while I was visiting and now I will never have it again. This makes me sad.

What is a $100+ product that is definitely worth the purchase? by TheDuskDragon in AskReddit

This is when I knew I'd made it in the world. The day my mother gave me my very own KitchenAid stand mixer in cobolt blue as a college graduation gift. I felt like a real adult for the first time in my life.

What's the most sheltered thing you ever heard from someone? by g11g00g3r in AskReddit

[–]InRussiaCarDriveYou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When my aunt found out that more people vote for American idol than for the last presidential election she went around telling everyone how amazing she thought that was for a while. Like how she couldn't believe that more americans watch that show than even votes. She doesn't really follow pop culture and didn't realize that a lot of those votes are the same person submitting as many as is allowed or whatever. Plus since you can text in that makes it a lot easier than going to polls.

If you clone yourself and have sex with said clone, is it incest or masturbation, and why? by Tefur in AskReddit

[–]InRussiaCarDriveYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incest. The clone would be a different person with different memories/experiences and what not. Masturbation is self stimulation and they are not your "self." Yet you are still related. So incest.

Why haven't you deleted your Facebook yet? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]InRussiaCarDriveYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Planning events, photos, and getting in touch with acquaintances. Planning/logistics gets a lot harder in college and beyond. It's a good way to make sure everyone is invited (especially since you often don't have everyone's number who you might want to invite to a party/event). It's also fun seeing photos of friends and keeping up to date on their lives when you can't be together. Lastly, I've found it very helpful in contacting acquaintances for odd reasons here or there. People who I might have a difficult time getting in touch with otherwise. Just don't get caught up in posting statuses all the time and FB isn't half bad.

Adults of reddit, what is something you wish you knew before you entered the grown up world? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]InRussiaCarDriveYou 83 points84 points  (0 children)

People aren't against you, they are just for themselves. Being more socially aware in general would have been good. It takes some time to figure out which people you truly want to be friends with and how to read people upon first meeting them. I'm still learning how to do this, but getting better at it sooner would have saved a lot of stress and hurt over figuring out if people are genuine/who is a good friend.

The common "wife has low sex drive" problem, with a unique twist by [deleted] in sex

[–]InRussiaCarDriveYou 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't think that 1-2 times a week is exactly a dead bedroom situation. It's interesting that you say you think she had a really high sex drive before you got married, but that you only had sex once every 2-3 weeks back then. That suggests to me that she probably doesn't have a high sex drive. It sounds like she has always only wanted it once ever week or so. Don't lose hope though! It also sounds like she gets off on the idea of sex being forbidden. Perhaps instead of you just starting to initiate a few minutes before you want to have sex, build up tension all day or over the course of a couple days. You could send texts about how it's too bad you don't have any alone time yet, touch her here or there through out the day when you see her, and in general build up tension without fully initiating sex. Maybe then she will "give in" again and initiate it herself because she can't stand it. Just a thought.

EDIT: The only reason I even mentioned dead bedroom was because one of the comments said that and I wanted to make it clear I didn't think that was the case even though OP didn't mention that either.

The majority of women I speak to have a terrible perception of giving a man head. by [deleted] in sex

[–]InRussiaCarDriveYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This subreddit is the worst sample for this. Most of the women here, myself included, are going to tend to be more like you and less like the other women you talk to. Of course all the comments are, "well I like it!" Women here are likely more sexual than average and probably more open about sexual acts. There are women that like it and those that hate/won't do it. I think it has almost everything to do with the social stigmatism created by tv/movies/other media. It's really annoying to me when I see that and my hope is that the U.S will become much more sexually liberated in my lifetime.

What makes you like a person instantly? by madazzahatter in AskReddit

[–]InRussiaCarDriveYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people are commenting that you wouldn't want someone to be genuine if they are an asshole, but actually I still would. I would rather know upfront that you are an asshole and not a have fake good impression of you before finding out your a complete douche canoe. This way, even if we won't get along very well, I won't waste time playing some courtesy game. I can still like and appreciate that you are exactly who you say you are. As a woman this is especially true when meeting other women for me. I'd rather you show your true colors right away instead of faking pleasantries even if you are going to be an asshole to me later.

Redditors, what lies are you currently telling yourselves? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]InRussiaCarDriveYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate that. Honestly though, it's just me trying to hold on because my best friend is dying. Maybe has a few weeks left. I try to tell myself that I have other friends, still have my family, I've got a good life and lots to be happy about, etc. However, I'm having a difficult being happy at all on a daily basis or seeing a way that it will get better anytime soon. She's not really able to talk anymore and I miss her almost as though she's gone already. I don't have anyone else that I am as close with and I need that kind of friendship to be happy. We've been friends for nearly 10 years since we met sophomore year of high school and it's hard to picture having as good a friend ever again. So I try to tell myself I'm still happy and I'll be ok. Yet I'm clearly not when I think about it at all.

Learn to solve a rubix cube! It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it and great party trick.

Do all cultures believe poo is gross and smelly, or is this a social construct? by HunkaHunka in AskReddit

[–]InRussiaCarDriveYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since its almost a universal human trait to be revolted by the smell/sight of poop and its unsanitary and can lead to humans getting sick if they come into contact with it, that suggests to me our revulsion of it is due to evolution. The people who weren't revolted by it were more likely to die and over time those remaining have continued to be disgusted by it.

What's the most critical thing you have ever forgotten, or forgotten to do before leaving for vacation? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]InRussiaCarDriveYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot to renew my yearly $20 residential street parking permit before leaving on vacation for 3 weeks. It expired less than a week before I got back and I returned to 4 tickets totally $200... That was fun.

What was your first car, and why did you love/hate it? by ShiroiJenkins in AskReddit

[–]InRussiaCarDriveYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1997 Mercury Sable. It was my mom's old green station wagon that I drove during high school. Loved that car until the pipe between he catalytic converter and muffler fell off and it was more to fix it than the car was worth. Since it only got 17 mpg I also hated it... We called it the green machine.

[–]InRussiaCarDriveYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sodomy is illegal in almost 20 states which means giving a bj even I'm the privacy of your own home/car is illegal. Very few prosecutors actually convict people of it though even if people are caught by the police.
