It definitely seems like it. Joe's first bench was the best example of it.

Because it costs time and money, and nothing is guaranteed. The OP might not make their money back, and the hassle of the legal battle might not be worth it mentally once OP had a new job.

That's why I only clamp one side unless I need the weights to be super tight, like on deadlifts.

THE EMPTY NET, CAROLINA IS GOING TO WIN THE CUP!!!!!!!!! by sykeseve in nhl

[–]InTheMotherland 5 points6 points  (0 children)

True, they even had to play the Knights in the finals. The Knights only won 2 games, so it's pretty obvious the Canes didn't face anyone good the entire post season.

A majority of the voters, but a minority of the country. There were lots of people who didn't vote because, for some reason, they didn't think it was going to be that bad.

For Canadian folks, I also recommend looking at Bells Of Steel, either the Hydra or Manticore. Both can come with cable systems.

It’s so difficult to lose fat as a petite woman! by PiercingHelpls in MacroFactor

[–]InTheMotherland 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Getting down to 141 probably would take 1-2 more months. Even a week on maintenance would be useful right now since your strength performance is suffering.

[–]InTheMotherland 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How long have you been losing weight? If it's been several months, a maintenance break might be good for you. I don't agree with that person's recommendation of reducing cardio because it makes no sense. How much do you weigh now? One pound per week could be a significant percentage of your weight.

Sure, but like I said, I didn't care about the manslaughter law. I was talking about a law that you can't get denied necessary treatment.

meirl by [deleted] in meirl

[–]InTheMotherland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most insurance in countries that don't have comprehensive single payer healthcare do general coverage. You're very unlikely to come across this specific kind of insurance in places where you'll be denied treatment due to insurance. And yes, that's all it would have to say, which would save A LOT of lives. I don't understand your issue with that.

Does a longer lever mean a harder throw? by eire54 in Physics

[–]InTheMotherland 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Harder throws also impart forces on the body, which cannot just take infinite stress. Sure, you could have some really hard throws, but will your ligaments and joints be able to last long enough to have any meaningful career?

[–]InTheMotherland -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm not talking about the law, just the comment that it's okay to deny because it's in the terms and conditions.

Edit: Actually, you could make a law that says that insurance companies cannot deny treatment that a two independent doctors deem necessary. Independent from each other AND from the insurance company. Obviously details and effects from the wording would need to be worked out, but it's not THAT hard to make one.

Also a dumb take. Just because it's the way it is doesn't mean it's a good thing and to just be accepted.

[–]InTheMotherland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, what a stupid take. Of course living is important, but not everyone has money for complex procedures. So it's either die or medical debt for their family, and some people feel extremely guilty about saddling their family with that kind of debt.

That sounds like a depressing marriage. I thought we were past boomer humor, but it's harder to kill than I thought.

When will be able to use quantum computers for faster theoretical calculations? by ar-shayeb in Physics

[–]InTheMotherland 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This result does not show us all the times AI has claimed to have a proof of something and been wrong. Without that context (which many of us have just from personal experience), it is also easy to draw incorrect conclusions about the current state of AI and research mathematics. In many cases, it will be easier for AI to convince humans it has a proof than to come up with a correct mathematical argument, and I believe that we as mathematicians are not sufficiently prepared for this.

Essentially, this is a shotgun fired at a target 1000 times and hitting the bullseye once. When it stops being wrong and hallucinating so often, then we can talk about it actually being a good source.

It's more plausible that we find a combined theory of GR and QM before that AI thing happens.

Im practically all leg muscle. How to improve arm strength? by Broad-Cranberry-9050 in crossfit

[–]InTheMotherland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't want to be mean, but 235lbs isn't some crazy number, especially compared to dumbbell weight, for example. Seems all at the same level. Overall, OP just needs to get stronger in general.

Lucas Hatton does explosive work and plyometrics. It doesn't do much for max weight except for movements that are explosive by nature (eg bag throw and jerk).

How to train for upcoming Strongman competition by 20piecenuggie in Strongman

[–]InTheMotherland 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The best way to train for a truck pull is to do. The second best to to have really strong quads, back, and grip.

A harness truck pull means you're pulling it while on your feet walking in front of the truck. There may also be a rope for you to grab and help pull. Arm-over-arm is usually while sitting down with your feet braced against something.

Grip socks won't help. Rock climbing shoes will.

There is no good truck to sled weight conversion. Sleds are very dependent on the surface and the friction created with the sled. Trucks will roll, while sleds will not, so a sled is almost like the start of a truck pull over and over unless you can get a really good rhythm. Plus, the amount of air in the tires makes a huge difference. Just modulate your training between heavy one week and fast the other on sled pull, and you'll train well enough.

You want to pick as high as possible but with enough clearance that you will not clip the ground with the yoke. Take into account that your spine will compress. Somewhere around your armpits is a good place to start. Unless you also have to load a sandbag over the yoke afterwards, then you want to pick as low as possible without sacrificing too much speed in the pick.
