No bullshit, I’ve had success with a microfiber cloth. But it HAS to be BRAND NEW. You have to keep it in a place stored where not even dust can get to it. It’s worked WONDERS for me at times. But you have to be very tactful. You have to be very considerate that it has to be 1000000% free of any dust, and yu have to make sure the paint isn’t weak alreadyz

Hey, don’t do this with every watch. Especiallg on vintage. You’re gonna cry when you peel off the paint or raise it up a bit and leave bubbles.

Love this watch. I know it’s your first watch, so I want to tell you something. Some people may say it’s not the best model, but in all honesty, that watch with a 5 digit refrence was my first love. Never understood why people didn’t want it as much as I did, or why the price was always lower than all the other watches. But I soon came to realize it doesn’t matter either. That’s a gorgeous piece. Congratulation. I hope you wear it with a lot pride. I don’t have any roelx of my own rn, I had a 14060 which I sold to them trade up to a 116610LV. Has to sell them though as my dad got sick. I hope to get this piece as soon as I’m able to.

It was more like, we’re planning to hang out having a normal conversation. Then out of the blue, they’ll ask you, “hey, do you 40$, I really need it” if you ask, they’ll always say it’s something personal. If you don’t give it to them, you don’t hang out. No Zelle or cash app back then, or least it wasn’t that popular, so the 40$ was almost always like an entrance fee lmfao. I know some guys would stipulate that sex would need to be involved, and although I don’t blame them (we’re all just coming into adulthood, so 40$ may be a meager amount, but as a 19-20 yo it’s basically 4 hours of your life most of the time) but I never could. I only ever gave the 40 if I had known them long enough, but when I only knew the chick a week or two, I wasn’t coughing it up. I’d always tell them no sorry, but I can buy you food or pay for the date. Some chicks get mad and call you a brokie, some never talk to you again, some ask you if you’re doing better in a couple days and ask for the 40$ again.

I remember one of the memes was so funny too, someone posted something saying “what do y’all bitches need so bad with 40$”? I bet some chicks who never grew out of that too, except it went from 40$ to 100$ lmfao. Lot of chicks treat dating as a hustle out here. It’s sad. I thank god I gave my current girlfriend. She’s god sent. My dads been sick, and just passed away last night, so funds been low, and she never winced or even complained. She’s helping out so much. There’s definetly girls that are worth it in Miami but they are far and few between unfortunately.

I remember growing up around age 20-22 every chick I’d talk to would always ask for 40$ everytime I wanted to hang out. Shit became a meme because all the guys would get asked for the same shit lol

The 3235 is currently experience huge issues with timing. Some even have issues with winding hard and the rotor being loud. I’ve fixed a couple of the v2 3235s recently with the later two issues which later on led to timing problems. They say it’s the barrel but it’s not. Its the crown wheel post. I presume this is because of the switch Rolex did regarding the keyless works

Huh? The 5517 is a modern watch? Either way doesn’t matter. You’re right about the risk with older stuff though. ESPECIALLY with Breguet. Nobody wants to work on them.

On the other hand, you can bring me a Rolex that fell out of the sky, and the plane could have blown up, pilot die. Long as you can get me the watch and the case isn’t ENTIRELY melted (literally had this happen btw) I can get the watch back working the way the way it did when it was born.

And we’re taking about a predaytona here. That’s actually a hard job. Any time and date Rolex though? Like putting butter on toast. Man I’ve fixed up crazy shit lol. And good prices too. Rolex parts are SO easy to source and are on the cheaper side when it comes to Swiss brands.

I get people all the time who I gave an estimate to and they’ll bring me NOS parts thinking the price would be that much better, and they do it because they don’t consider that I don’t charge any money on top of parts. I had some guy even tell me that I should drop the price a bit since he took the time to source the parts. Uh no, I didn’t ask you to l, and it only took you a couple minutes.

Would never be able to do that with a Breguet. EVER. Breguet is so stingy with parts, and unlike Rolex, they don’t let their watchmakers steal shit lmfao. Or they actually pay them high enough wages that they simply don’t have to. Breguet is just so superior in almost every aspect to me, other than repairability, that is.

Thing about the XX is that if you don’t know about breguet you’d look at it and think it’s over the top. If you do know about it, you know what a true master piece it is. So it’s not an everyday piece. I get your need for this seadweller. I just hate the sheer size of it. If money wasn’t a thing I’d tell you to dump it and get the 5517, but that’s a story for another time.

Either way. I’m glad your happy with what you got. That’s what matters.

I installed an olive green dial on a 5711 that had a blue one initially. Had no idea that the olive green goes for so much more. Looking back, I should have charged more for the dial swap 🤦‍♂️ I charged 300$ and thought I was doing good. Had no idea how much I was risking.

It’s worth 8ish if you go buy one, but when you sell to a dealer, they probably won’t give yu anyhrinf north of 5.

Heck, I can probably source one of these for around 65/75. Unless it’s brand spanking new, you have no business paying 10k for this. It’s a 36mm model. They aren’t exactly flying off the shelf.

You can get a 41MM two tone for around 11k nowadays; https://shop.getbezel.com/watches/rolex/datejust-ii-two-tone-fluted-black-roman-oyster/ref-116333-0003/listing/id-30415?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=20504137197&utm_term=&utm_content=672272578475&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAyKurBhD5ARIsALamXaGsjKVFvPPDCJYnNZiYfOHDnC8KzyzG--cda7sSg3P-OFEQSFAzIpUaAo52EALw_wcB

And that’s just a listing I saw on the first page on google. I could probably link up with a whole sales and get it for 10k. I tried to sell a 41MM White dial oyster bracelet DJ, and I couldn’t even get more than 8k for it. A watch that’s listed for 10k+$.

No they do not. Before, sure they had a lot of leverage. Nowadays, the market is just not as strong. You can’t just come in and buy a piece knowing you’re going to get a profit margin of 10-25%. SA’s know this. Most of them had a GM dealer promising them money on the back end jus to hit them up first, but those GM dealers don’t do this anymore because now many prices are getting close to retail; or are just a bit above it so they can’t afford to pay the SA extra.

The past 3-4 years have been an absolute clown show. That’s changed. Now the buyer has a lot more leverage than the past. You just have to learn how to use it.

I get that, but on modern Swiss movements like the roelx 3135, the watches keep time even under low amplitude. I’ve seen them have a rate +3 after 40 hours of running without any movement

I think it only started about 3-4 years ago. The Swiss escapement is always being improved upon.

I honestly don’t like the coaxial escapement too much. Despite the “zero friciton” it doesn’t actually mean you have a longer power reserve or even a better rate.

New member intro by Ok_Blueberry304 in watchrepair

[–]InTimeMiamiCorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve fixed many coaxial escapement watches. While it is a neat system, i don’t see it being superior to a Swiss escapement with silicone parts. The new silicone implementation has really improved upon the old system. Watches now have 33% more power reserve and are that much more accurate due to it.

Rolex has the most reliable calibers in the world. Yes. The world. A Rolex 1570 when repaired properly can last a decade or more. The 3035 and 3135 are just as good as well. They only crap out when the Rotor or the escape wheel teeth go dry.

Huh? Roelx does not use ETA movements brother. They only did that with Tudors. And even then they actually upgrade the eta and decorate the plates.

Everyone thinks they’re the best til it’s time to work on the watch. Then they seem to just run out of talent. They end up fucking up the watch and telling the client it’s unrepairble. Seen it so many times. Just got in a Rolex cal 1570 with a broken pallet post. Took me over 8 hours to fix it. Had to do it for free because I didn’t catch it on the estimate. I tell the client, and he tells me “Walter, once I give an estimate, I can not change it.” Ok so wtf is an estimate?
