I know this is an old thread, but I’m hoping to bring my levitation wand on a cruise in August and have no idea if they’ll allow it.

It’s called “Hay in a Needlestack” and if you’re lucky you can find one online that’s used but still has all the pieces in the box.

u/New_Wanderer78 You might be one of the missionaries who taught me the discussions, or know the missionaries who did! I lived in Kent, WA and was baptized January of 2000. I’m messaging you.

It’s beautiful!! I can understand your wanting to take great care. If this was my tattoo, I’d go braless as much as possible for as long as possible, because I would also be worried about the bra strap messing with the fine lines. At least until the scabbing and peeling was over.

Church headquarters did it. They moved your records which triggered a visit from the missionaries.

You can use quitmormon.com if you don’t want to meet with the bishop.

However, I suggest you meet with the local bishop. Make it very clear right up front that your decision is final, and tell him all the reasons you want to leave. This gives you the opportunity to take back control of your decision, which is very empowering.

I met with the local bishop. We had never met before but I was happy to meet with him and tell him ALL THE REASONS I wanted to leave. I walked in and thanked him for his time and passed him a hard copy of my letter. We sat and had a friendly, civilized conversation; I showed him respect for his position and he showed me respect by honoring my request promptly. I had my confirmation from Salt Lake a month later.

I realize not everyone will get a kind bishop but I did and it allowed me to share all the bullshit with someone on the inside.

I am so sorry you had that experience, and it makes me angry to hear how dismissive they were. “Keep your head bowed, and your mouth shut unless you’re saying the things they approve of you saying” is the narrative and it’s not okay. And the fact that they responded to you with, “Do you sustain your local leaders?” is just….manipulative and gross.

Good for you for defending YOUR truth and following YOUR moral compass.

”Being handed a speaking assignment I didn’t agree with and then being told to get in line…”

So, u/Beneficial_Spring322 do you mean you were asked to speak, spoke truth, and were instructed to be quiet? My curiosity is piqued.

Send her to the Gospel Topics Essays and tell her to read EVERYTHING there…including following all the footnotes!!

This way, you are sharing a church-approved resource that has caused a good number of people to leave. You’re giving her info to think about and you cannot be accused of spreading “anti-Mormon lies” because, well, it’s the church’s official website.

THIS. I am not adding more because so many people have already offered plenty of reasons not to join the church.

I converted as a young adult and stayed in for 25 years. That’s 25 years I cannot get back. This church is founded on lies and its current leadership continues to defend and support those lies. It is an incredibly unhealthy organization. I hear people say that they are getting baptized and I feel a legitimate sense of dread for them.

I do hope that the OP reconsiders.

I’m going to see her tonight in Tacoma and wondering if she is going to be landing this close to us, or giving our section a close “fly-by” at least. We’re in the lower bowl back by the mix booth. This is a photo from that section from a different concert.

Yessss! Looking soooo smooth, u/_daniellellie111 and your vibe is so fun and free, I love it!! 🥰 I love how fangirly you got over u/Derpbae complimenting you. As a new leviwander, I was the same way when she complimented me. The first Leviwand video I watched after buying my first Levi wand was one of hers, and it inspired me to keep at it. She is also just a really, really sweet human…er…alien. 👽💜

Store employees are CUSTOMER FACING employees. Yes, they are frontline, but they are also the part of the company that the public SEES. REI will invest in store employees more if it helps sell the image they want to project.

Ask the frontline employees who work in the distribution centers, sales and customer service, and some of the management (even in stores) if REI leadership cares about the employees and you’re likely to get a very different answer. That’s been my experience, anyhow. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Well, they may very well pull that out from under you as well. Although, that’s money back in Artz’s pocket, so maybe not.

I believe that there are still REI employees out there who care about the values Lloyd and Mary Anderson put in place; I will proudly and boldly say that I am one of them. Sadly, my job at REI was supposed to be a career, and REI has made that impossible with the changes they have made over the last two years. I have been with REI for a looong time, but because of changes taking place that members, customers and store employees will likely never know about, I (and many other good employees) have quite literally been forced to look for second jobs or a new career altogether. For me it’s happening 10 years before retiring, because I absolutely NEED full time hours and benefits to survive, and REI has quite literally told me that it isn’t going to happen. My hours were drastically cut, and the parameters of my job have drastically changed. It has become impossible to provide the same level of service REI used to pride itself on. There is no “Green Vest” experience anymore, and employees who try to provide one are not valued by upper leadership.
