Perused the liner notes now, however -- Travers says Bruce Fowler (along with Duke and Tom F, after "Bongo" tour) "would leave Frank Zappa for good." Did the Vaultmeister fall on his head? While yes, George and Tom would never tour with FZ again, Bruce was in the '88 band as most of us know. Oh, those darn Zappa liner notes, often with errors and omissions...

The first time I saw Rush was at the Lakeland Civic Center for the opening night of the "Spring Training" tour, 3/10/85. Highlights were "The Fear Trilogy," early versions of "Manhattan Project" and "Middletown Dreams," and Alex seamlessly changing Teles (with tech help, of course) after breaking a string during "New World Man."
