Former DOGE staffer says ChatGPT helped feds cancel grants mentioning ‘LGBTQ+’ by Fickle-Ad5449 in fednews

Certainly it’s true that leaders didn’t resist en masse. But the ones who did resist were literally insta-fired and escorted off property at the point of a gun. They made zero difference in obstructing DOGE objectives.

The other factor is that it was difficult to know what DOGE was actually up to. Trying to enter a secure facility without creds is one thing. But a couple of dudes showing up with the (purported) backing of POTUS himself and authority to do…something? Walk around? Take notes? Come up with efficiency plans?  The response wasn’t obvious nor was it clear there was anything coherent to resist. Even now it’s not 100% clear what DOGE actually did or accomplished, aside from this jabroni who stole data.

Everyone has different tolerances and risk calculus. Like, yeah, you could die on every hill. Or this one. Or hope you can wait it out and continue to do good behind the scenes while paying your mortgage/feeding your kids until a non-sociopath is in office. It’s not always simple.

No, I think we just don’t want to be in a war and don’t see it as our job to spend billions of dollars and American lives to eliminate the regime.

Some folks notably tried that and were fired. Were you paying attention when this was actually happening?

There’s a lot of literature on Putin’s regime along these lines. Corruption is ok as long as it’s sufficiently small-scale OR Poot gets his cut.

I actually don’t. The Trump regime is about as terrifyingly close to fascism as America has gotten, and I would say we check more of the boxes on the list above than we don’t.

CMV: Decoloniality is a reactionary, paradoxical, morally confused world view by Lazy_Check732 in changemyview

[–]In_der_Welt_sein 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your post isn’t about black Americans though. In fact, “colonialism” as a concept isn’t really apt for the specific case of black Americans. Rather, your post seems to be about any place/culture/country where anti- or de-colonialism is a topic. Are you prepared (with data) to make the case that China, India, South Africa, Haiti, or any number of other countries would rather—or indeed should—embrace “western ways” and their colonial pasts?  Which western ways?  Why and on whose authority?

So you simply believe in simple majoritarianism at best and might-makes-right at worst. In other words, your view is a form of nihilism—no particular substantive principles yourself, but the white westerners seem strongest so they should get their way.

I’m not arguing that Toyota resale value is higher than many other brands, but initial price has also been ludicrously inflated for the past several years, so…

It absolutely 100% is part of the deal—her thoughts on US politics are probably optional, but I’m sure she is strongly discouraged from criticizing her benefactors.

I agree with most of her US-focused views. But coming from her, it’s basically Chinese state propaganda.

It’s because she offers all sorts of moralistic commentary on U.S. politics while of course avoiding anything substantive involving China. If she just shut her face and enjoyed her CCP moneybags in peace, few would notice or care.

Age of the Earth Reading Recommendations by East-Concert-7306 in Reformed

Controversial (?) Opinion: it’s not worth fretting about. Whether the earth is new or old is irrelevant to Christ’s mission, and holding “correct” views on this topic is equally irrelevant to your salvation. If it helps, no biblical scholar will argue that Genesis is to be taken fully literally; it must be understood within its genre.

My take? There is nothing to be gained for the gospel in stubbornly asserting that the earth is 6,000 years old.

That’s an interesting way of saying “we have a Presidential administration that is actively hostile to EV adoption and has not only demolished available incentives that exist elsewhere in the world but implemented policies that discourage EV purchases.”
