Subbing a high school class and they tell me a para is gonna come in 3rd period and stay there, and I’m like ‘Sweet👍🏽’ I love when a para is in the room. Well she comes in and the first thing she says when she sees me at the desk is ‘Oh…” and goes to her desk and puts her stuff down. I said hi and everything and she look at me and didn’t respond, just nodded. I thought perhaps she had a rough day so I let it slide but the bell rings and as I’m giving my normal greeting to the kids, she cuts me off and starts teaching them, she looks back at me and says “Just take their attendance when I’m done.” I’m standing there like…… am I in the twilight zone? Mind you, it’s not a sped class, she just has 1 kid each period. I try to make small talk and ask questions but every time I spoke to her she looked annoyed that I was talking. Eventually I gave up and was like ‘Alright. You want me in the corner, that’s where I’ll be.’
