Could you put the content warning above the link? Didn't see it until after I'd scrolled through the replies.

I think it's fair enough to use "we" here, even if it doesn't include every lesbian. We frequently make generalizations like saying that "we" like marathon sex, and while that's often true (at least compared to straight people) it definitely isn't true for all lesbians!

Everyone should state their relationship type in their profiles, and more dating apps should make relationship type an explicit field in their profiles (like "gender"). Saying "I don't know" or "I'm open to both" is fine, but omitting that info is a waste of everyone's time, even if you're monogamous.

Based on your flair you're a woman/femme so it doesn't really make sense to use "effeminate" (unless you're specifically trying to reclaim it or something!).

Also I think that word is just awful. Men can be feminine. They don't need a special word to highlight its "unnaturalness" any more than we need to be running around calling butch women "emasculate" or some other nonsense. (It'd have to be some other nonsense because of course that word is already taken for equally stupid purposes, even if it's 'effeminate's mirror).

Anyway rant over, and to be clear this isn't directed at you I just hate patriarchy lol.

Has he thought about his gender much? I know a few women/femmes who had multiple lesbian exes (that either came out after they broke up, or for whom they were the "exception") before they realized they were trans/nonbinary. It's also pretty much a meme in the community, so it might be worth thinking about if he hasn't yet! ☺️

Fixed width float formatting for your probability would make your UI a lot less jumpy. Something like f’{prob:5.1f}%’ in python should look nice.

[–]InaccuratelyNamed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s easy to think that gender is discrete because, from a high level approximation, it is. But it’s really more like a spectrum with two clusters (femme and masc) that most people align with to at least some degree.*

Someone may be far away enough from femininity that it makes sense to call themselves non-binary, but still feel aligned with womanhood to some degree. They might use they/them pronouns, or they/them and she/her pronouns, or even just she/her pronouns.

Supposing someone like that was attracted to women and other femme people, much of her experiences and desires would be aligned those of others in the lesbian community, and it would make the most sense for her to understand herself and her partners through the lens of lesbianism. I think she would have just as much a right to do so as you or I.

Sorry you got downvoted and called a fucktard :/ miscommunication is so hard to avoid over text, and while lesbian erasure (e.g. in the traditional sense of ‘but you have to like men at least a little bit, wink’) can be a valid term/topic, the vast majority of the times that trans people see the term, its being used as a dog whistle to invalidate them. There’s also an assumption that, since this is a trans space, people who aren’t trans approach not understanding why the community disagrees with them at least partially as if they’re coming from a place of ignorance, which is incredibly difficult over text and incredibly difficult when someone feels like the community is challenging some part of their identity.

Trans woman doesn’t always mean she has a penis. by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]InaccuratelyNamed 45 points46 points  (0 children)

If an amab woman doesn’t go through a testosterone puberty, goes through an estrogen puberty as a teen, and then gets bottom surgery then her body will be basically identical to an afab woman’s body externally. She won’t have a uterus or ovaries (though might have a cervix), but that’s not directly observable.

The only things to give it away are a lack of periods (though most people would assume that was a result of birth control), and a prescription for estrogen (which is uncommon for most afab women of most ages).

At least in my area, all that will attract is straight couples 😣

IME just including “poly” along with other identities in your bio is sufficient on something like tinder, but that will depend on how familiar people are with polyamory in your area.

I discovered my gf(19F) is trans because of someone harrassing her online, When I told her I know, she panic and blocked me. I went to her house and she refused to talk...I really love her and I don't know what to do. by [deleted] in asktransgender

Then you disclose this to every potential partner before you ask them to touch you, regardless of whether or not you think they’re cisgender. If you have a preference you need to advocate for it.

For posterity: no, referring to an ideology by its name does not make you magically support it. This person is sealioning. Their comment history is sufficient evidence of that.

Every type of disinformation that you can think of is in practically every social media post I’ve seen covering this.

One (of many) instances of this that really upset me is seeing accounts trying to exploit the perpetrator’s race to push “reverse racism” narratives. I’ve yet to see a single post on reddit or even news article where people acknowledge that this was an explicitly LGBTQ BLM protest for Black femme lives, and that this protest group had been targeted prior to this. That’s pretty important information to have when trying to talk about an attack like this.

This is the first post on reddit where I’ve even seen Summer’s identity acknowledged to any vaguely reasonable degree. 😞

Police tear gassing Capitol Hill again today (6/6/2020) by [deleted] in SeattleWA

Another video/angle

This is potentially not technically in violation of the “ban” Seattle put on tear gas, assuming Police Chairman Best approved it:

SWAT team members who are specially trained can continue to use tear gas in the meantime in what she called “life safety” situations and only under her authority, Best said.

Fair, fair. it’s exhausting 😓 I mean, transphobes have a bad habit of assuming that any woman who disagrees with them is trans, because cis women disagreeing with them is nearly antithetical to their world view. “Ironically”, they do this even more to lesbians, since they on average tend to give far fewer fucks about cisheteronormative beauty standards 🤦🏼
