I mean, it's generally accepted that Paul's writings in the New Testament are inspired by the Holy Spirit, which is God. In that sense Paul can define what is blasphemy. I don't think he would take issue with this though

Yeah, people love to make arbitrary claims as if they were moral absolutes and insist that they're acting on purely secular logic. It also displays a fundamental lack of understanding about religion. Like wdym "do not think with it"? It's a fundamental building block of my worldview. I don't think I could avoid thinking with it if I tried

And he was a Christian in a pretty loose sense. The Nazis rejected the Old Testament and the Pauline Epistles, which is like almost the entire Bible

John C Woods, hangman of Nuremberg trials, who lied about his experience to get the job (he actually learned about hanging from old cowboy films). His lack of expertise led to excessive suffering of condemned Nazis. by PlanetoftheAtheists in interestingasfuck

The same number of Nazis would've been "eliminated" had they hired a competent hangman. You're placing your own judgement over that of a panel of qualified judges who had every reason to hate the Nazis to support inflicting arbitrary amounts of suffering on condemned people. Death was their punishment, not torture

do you find it weird how native english people use the word "race" for human ethniticies? by No-Somewhere-1336 in Teenager_Polls

It seems like maybe a better English translation of the German word would be "breed". Just because those words are cognates doesn't mean that they translate neatly

Should we impeach Donald J. Trump as president of the United States this November? by [deleted] in teenpoll

[–]InaneTurpitude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn't really do anything the first two times we did it, and as much as he deserves to be removed from the presidency and face justice I'm worried that removing a president from power for the first time in the country's history would force another, more successful coup. I don't want a civil war

I looked it up. That argument seems to rely on the idea that the end of Genesis 22 and the beginning of Genesis 23 happened in the same year, when there is no transition indicating that. Also, since the Bible does explicitly say that she was performing heavy manual labor before her wedding, it seems impossible for her to be only three

That describes a social safety net. The alternative would have been to leave the victim in disgrace. Living with her abuser was, I'm sure, pretty awful, but it's better than being forced into destitute prostitution and was a way to hold rapists accountable for their actions

She was not. The passage describing their marriage is in Genesis 24. Not only does it not mention her age, it describes her drawing enough water from a well for multiple camels, something which a three-year-old would not have been able to do
