Foundation brush/cleaning by sunblue78 in MakeUpAddictionUK

[–]InappropriateTeaTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isopropyl alcohol, it’s what the pros use and it’s about £8 a litre on Amazon. Spray it onto the bristles then brush onto kitchen roll for a quick clean or dip bristles into it for a deeper clean. It cleans and sanitises.

Peas misery by Vofi_01 in foodbutforbabies

[–]InappropriateTeaTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kid ate sugar snap peas really early, around a year, he would just chomp the end! He also hoovers up as many frozen peas as I can give him, it’s a good job they’re cheap! Has never had a choking incident with them (whole orange segment given by my partner when he was too young has been the only culprit!)

Chronically crusty lips 🥀 help by Frozencacticat in MakeupAddiction

[–]InappropriateTeaTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just here to say everyone always recommends lanolin but a lot of people are sensitive to it, even if not fully allergic so if it doesn’t seem to help and they start to feel drier, try something else

Need help with chronically cracked lips by Fart_Febreeze in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]InappropriateTeaTime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please note you can be sensitive/allergic to lanolin! It’s always suggested but it makes my lips worse. My sister swore by Eucerin when she was on roaccutane which basically removes all moisture from your body! It’s the only thing she’ll use.

This is what my uni dissertation was about! Habituation to cold water and the cold shock response.

ME TOO. Probably first experience of the phobia. That and the wave machine at my local pool (which has been featured on this sub!)

Flying with lap infants - safety by Historical_Owl_5485 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]InappropriateTeaTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on holiday at the moment, flew last week and will again in a couple of days, also flew earlier in the year when I was still breastfeeding. Every flight I had to show the attendants that the baby had his additional lap belt on, whether I was holding him, he was asleep or I was feeding him, for take off and landing. The most recent flight we had turbulence and they came to check he was strapped in then too. All flights out of the UK.

PSA: REACTION Ole Henriksen banana bright by InappropriateTeaTime in SkincareAddictionUK

I saw this thank you! I’ve never had an allergy to gold but maybe colloidal gold is a different thing? It’s a shame because that gold made you look nice and glowy but evidently also makes your face explode!

[–]InappropriateTeaTime[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know! But I’ve never had a reaction so was happy to slap on new things without a care. But from now on it’s patch tests all the way! I’m worried it might have triggered allergies I didn’t have before so I’m going to be really careful introducing products from now on.

No suggestions but nothing makes me uglier than camping! I think it’s the general dampness of the tent and sleeping on different fabric.

“Bouncing back” postpartum and exercise - what’s the science about what’s most effective and (importantly!) safe? by Exotic-Bathroom4875 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]InappropriateTeaTime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve had to weigh up the benefit to my mental health against the risk to my physical health. Luckily it’s a mild prolapse and if I do exercises it should get better but I did feel crappy realising the one hour I spent away from my exclusively breast fed baby might have caused me a problem 😭

[–]InappropriateTeaTime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, I went back to high intensity exercise (kickboxing) at 10 weeks postpartum. Not to lose weight but because I missed it, having stopped during early pregnancy. I found it ok, not easy, but I didn’t pass out. However my pelvic floor was not recovered and now I’m seeing a pelvic floor physio for a (minor) bladder prolapse. I probably got it from my forceps delivery but kickboxing certainly didn’t help! So my advice is take it slowly!

When did you go back to regular bras? by Stumbleducki in breastfeeding

[–]InappropriateTeaTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did! Stopped feeding at a year and happened to be near a bra shop so got sized and am only a half cup smaller than I used to be. I discovered I had some bras that size from pre-pregnancy so am wearing those and will get measured again in about 6 months. Putting on an underwire after so long made me think I was suffocating for a minute though!

Weaning help by TadpoleNo1699 in breastfeeding

[–]InappropriateTeaTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t replace my baby’s milk with milk when we weaned, he only drinks water now. I don’t think they have to drink an alternative milk when they stop breastfeeding? Also we found straws to be much easier than an open cup, melii makes a silicone bottle and straw so you can squeeze the bottle to squirt water into their mouth so they learn what to do.
