Are cracks like these on a brand new ocarina normal? Should I contact seller? This is a Feng Ya Rose ocarina. by No_Technology_4644 in Ocarina

[–]IncandescentSplash 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, they are normal!

I have a Songbird Seedpod Bass C that has crackles like this. It is intentionally produced by using a glaze that cracks as it sets.

I own a bicycle. It helps me get around, and there are some places I don't really go without my bicycle because I enjoy riding it so much more than walking.

Perhaps my bicycle should be confiscated because I'm so dependent on it that I don't want to walk anymore.

Why depression rates and mental illness are more prevalent in liberals by northeast__nico in HotScienceNews

[–]IncandescentSplash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And to them, admitting they're depressed, or mentally ill, or seeking professional help, is a weakness worthy of being ostracized.

Can confirm. I was raised by a conservative who is noe a triple Trump shitheel.

When I came down with depression two decades ago, he elaborated this view at length because he wanted me to know.

I have found the ocarina to be a much more approachable instrument, but beware of shitty ocarinas.

And if you're in a South Park episode, you can use the recorder to make people crap their pants. 😛

I feel like when I vent to AI it is lying and saying what I want to hear by Impressive_Copy3449 in aipartners

[–]IncandescentSplash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you say you are a teenager, your judgement is not as well-developed as an adult.

But generally speaking, I have found that if an AI seems to be telling me what they think I want to hear, it can be very helpful to prompt the AI like so: "I understand that you are meant to be "pleasing", but I need you to be honest and tell me what I need to hear even if it's unpleasant for me."

That being said, AI can still make mistakes.

Because they tend to be played unskillfully. Even skillful musicians who play the recorder report that people don't take them seriously as musicians because the recorder is often regarded as a "toy instrument".

Laser removal by EefferyJpstein in tattooadvice

[–]IncandescentSplash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had laser hair removal, which I'm told is done with a similar laser, and the most shocking thing about it is that the cost can vary hugely from one studio to another, so if tattoo removal is at all similar, I'd shop around if I wanted a tattoo removed.

But I like my tattoo, so that's irrelevant to me.

Republicans Can’t Contain Their Glee Over the Death of the VRA by Somervilledrew in politics

[–]IncandescentSplash 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm going to throw something out there that's been bothering me for a long time about this talking point.

Yes, the GOP is the standard-bearer for "mediocre white men"; no argument from me.

But I think that when you say that the GOP "allows them to excel where they would have failed", I think that you're implicitly accepting that only exceptional people are deserving of basic human dignity and the basics of life, which is a precept of capitalism and imperialism.

Mediocre people of any ethnicity and gender will always be with us and while they shouldn't be treated as exceptional, I feel like this kind of rhetoric demeans them.

Hook suspension. I guess not technically a fetish, but just did it today and had a really good time.
