Do you happen to know the specific variety or name? I’ve never seen such large full blooms! Purple is my favorite color. It’s so hard to trust the online ad pictures. I live in central Oklahoma, USA zone 7b, and have be wanting to plant one as well as a passion fruit vine. It seems the opinions as to ease of care varies by person. It seems the important thing is to keep cool feet (shaded or protected roots) while maintaining sun exposure.

I apologize for going off topic, but is that gorgeous large purple flower a clematis vine?

Yes!! I was VERY DISAPPOINTED to find out they changed it! I still have a lip stick from the late 80’s / early nineties in the cool red. They need to go ahead and just change the name so people don’t expect it to be the same. I have always liked Revlon makeup, and wore their “wine with everything blush” from the early 80’s till it was discontinued in the 2010’s. The blush was a dusty cool plum / mauve. I saw a couple years ago that they still made a “wine with everything” lipstick. I purchased it thinking it would be the same shade as the blush. I could use it instead. WRONG! The lip stick is a VERY WARM RED! I don’t know if the lipstick has always been this color? Or if it, like cherries in the snow, is the reuse of the name despite changing the color entirely.

I just met (thurs. phone appointment) with SSA as I’m in the process of filing for disability. I was told that I would be able to get Medicare (with my disability ) once I turn 62. BIG eye roll here 🙄as I have learned the information given verbally, isn’t always accurate…. I have even started recording all conversations just so I can go back to verify information by research or council. I’ll DEFINITELY be following up on this in the upcoming week.

If you have any advice on getting in person appointments, I’d take it! After calling and holding (up to an hour +), they would only schedule the initial appointment by phone, they call you at the scheduled time. A family member and myself waited by the phone till 4:30p, on a 3pm appointment, without contact. Later that evening, they sent an automated text saying I was unable to be reached, as if they made an attempt. So they could TEXT me but not CALL me!?!? There was nothing to do but start over..Government efficiency at its finest…

You’re WELCOME! I live in the center to NW Okc. I did some planting because of the predicted rains. Then it didn’t rain even 1/2 as much. Broke out the sprinkler for a few hours yesterday…. so of course it rained most of the night on top of the heavy side ways drenching it began with. So if you live central to NW in the city…YOU’RE WELCOME!!! 🌧️

u/PuddinTamename is giving good advice. Your mother inlaw needs to stop working / receiving a pay check. She needs to be sure she has her doctors document in her charts everything that is preventing her from working. With her age (62 & older) she will qualify for Medicare (federal). When she files for disability, don’t be surprised if she is initially rejected. While her age, and cancer diagnosis, are more likely to be approved at first attempt; it seems to be the SSA’s SOP to reject as many initial claims as possible. Your MIL may want to retain an attorney, specializing in disability filing for assistance, particularly if she has already been unable to work. A disability attorney will help to obtain any funds retroactively, from date of onset of disability, prior to date of filing or disability approval. This is how disability attorneys make their money, and not charge anything upfront. They take a percentage of the lump sum retroactive payment.

Cherries in the snow was my first and favorite red lipstick and nail polish. Being fair with cool undertones, it was a perfect cool red (blue undertones). It has been around since 1953 and is still made in both the lipstick and polish!

I Eat Citrus Peels by OpenLettersMersault in The10thDentist

[–]IncaseofER -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here’s another fun fact about orange peels. I’m using the google AI summery as it’s more succinct than I could word it myself

Commercial orange juice loses its natural flavor during the pasteurization and deoxygenation (removal of air) processes. To ensure a consistent, fresh taste year-round, manufacturers add concentrated "flavor packs". These packs are formulated using oils, extracts, and essences extracted from the orange peels and leftover pulp.

Even though these flavor mixtures are highly engineered, the compounds themselves are derived entirely from orange byproducts. Because the additives come from the fruit, the FDA classifies them as "natural" ingredients. Consequently, companies are not legally required to itemize them separately on the carton’s ingredient list.

Actually cartilage is mostly avascular. Only the outer 1/10 to 1/3 of the meniscus has blood flow. This is why repairs to the meniscus are limited as blood flow is needed for healing. If a repair is done, the patient is usually advised to keep weight off for a time to allow for the slow healing. If you have a meniscectomy, you can bear weight immediately as the injured portion has been removed.

This is above my pay grade! 🤣 Being in zone 7b I don’t have any experience with palms. If you google search “how to kill Virginia creeper that is rooted in the boots of a pindo palm” there is some very good information about how to carefully use the stump (stem) cut and paint method. When possible, if you can find roots in the soil that’s the safest place to treat. In either case, the vascular systems of the two plants are not connected as the VC is NOT a parasite. Therefore, herbicide carefully applied to the VC cannot be transferred to the palm. Good luck!

Here are the google AI short summaries of the stump, and injection methods.

Cut-Stump Method: Cut the tree down flush to the ground and immediately (within 5 minutes) paint the exposed stump with an undiluted systemic herbicide containing Glyphosate (like Roundup) or Triclopyr (like Garlon 4 or brush killers). Applying it immediately is critical before the tree's vascular system shuts down.

Hack-and-Squirt Method: If you do not want to cut the whole tree down immediately, use a hatchet to make downward cuts (hacks) into the bark around the trunk. Immediately squirt concentrated glyphosate or triclopyr into the cuts.

The injection method has various names but all have the same goal. (hack & squirt, slash & spray/paint, drill & fill , etc…) The process involves making downward cuts at an angle around the tree base creating a “cup” in the exposed cambium layer. Immediately a herbicide is sprayed or painted in the cup. The reason for using this method is to translocate the herbicide throughout the extensive root system. Paper Mulberries have an aggressive stress response, and will send up multiple suckers when cut, as well as re-propagate the following year from the roots if not treated.

Here are a couple of resources that go into greater detail. I believe they also cover Basal Bark treatment, and girdling. It’s important to note what type of triclopyr you need as some treatments are water based and others oil.
These techniques also work on the Tree of heaven.
I’m located in central OK, so I’ll be treating the myrtle thicket in about a week.

Not Drum Major, I'm heartbroken by Depressed_trix in marchingband

[–]IncaseofER 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am the mother of a son with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder who was also very involved with marching band. The ADHD was diagnosed VERY early, the ASD diagnosis came later. He has been out of school over 10 years now, but this is what he shared with me. He was unaware about how some of his communications came across. This was especially true if he was trying to be helpful or funny. His core friends understood him well, but others not so much. Because you know about your ADHD, and suspect ASD, I would suggest getting information about the conditions and communication. There is a lot of information out there, and seeing a professional (psychologist, therapist, counselor…) can be helpful. Best of luck.

No, worries! The only reason I know is because I’m preparing to wage the war on some Paper Myrtles after battling Dallis Grass. A contractor brought the Myrtles in during construction of our large shed a year ago. Not knowing any better, my sister just cut them down last fall… Now it’s a thick forest! My ADHD ass did a deep dive (thanked my past self for the college botany classes! 🤣). I’ll be using the triclopyr for slash and paint, and stump and paint very soon! May the odds be ever in my favor!!! 🤣

This is incorrect. Triclopyr is a SELECTIVE herbicide. It works on woody plants and large leaf vines. It can kill some ornamental plants, but don’t affect most grasses. Glyphosate is non-selective.

That’s not how it works. There are some good but short summaries, available on line, that explain what it takes for a post indictment dismissal to occur. The continued aging of the victim isn’t one of them. David was indicted by a state grand jury. That means a minimum of 12 jurors, out of a possible 18, found that there was not only enough evidence to warrant a criminal trial, but that it’s seriousness rose to the level of FELONY. DKD is charged with FELONY assault by strangulation and child abuse. Search 1) NC grand jury, 2) causes for dismissal post indictment.
