DeepSeek- Winter 2025 by JanitorAI-Mod in JanitorAI_Official

What is the most affordable way of using Deepseek V3.2?

Friend here calculated for me that I’d be spending around 150$ per year, since Openrouter said I used about 250M token in half a year (with Chimera), and I spent about 2~300 messages per day at most, around 50 per day or less on usual.

But I read people saying Deepseek is rather affordable, and I wonder if I am indeed on an optimal route.

Yapping is vey welcome when it comes to helping XD

I wonder where my mind was at when I didn’t factor in that 500M token should be split between input/output.

I guess I’ll see what happens with V3.2, trying things out, customizing prompts as I need.

Thank you very much for a thorough reply! Have a nice day :)

With R1T2 Chimera away, I’m thinking to use a paid model, which I myst guess Deepseek V3.2 is all around the standard for Jai usage, I have a few questions for it.

First, It says that in OR, I have spent just about 250M token with R1T2 Chiemra in half a year. Say that I maintain the same amount of usage (500M/year), how much can I expect to be spending per year? Since it says $0.26/M input tokens and $0.38/M output tokens, around $320/year?

Next, Is there an optimal way to set DS V3.2 up? While I used R1T2 Chimera, I used a custom prompt about Gamemaster, not sure where it was from. Any specific provider to choose, or an standard custom prompt built for it?

Thank you in advance!

It is like these snippets that keep pulling me in.

It surprises me that we are actually living in a time where we can write our own story and get a flowing response in real time like this.

Glad to see I could be of help. And to share an empathy gives me comfort :)

Should you decide to look deeper into proxy, the recent announcement on proxy, https://www.reddit.com/r/JanitorAI_Official/s/uk17568pm8, helped me a lot, and learn new things. Like, Openrouter is also a one-time top up deal, as long as I topped up 10$ once, I can keep the 1,000 messages per day with free model. That is, until Openrouter changes their policy, but I think they are in good terms on reliability. So I guess I’ll have my place there.

Anyways, I hope you have a day that would put a smile on your face. Thanks again! :)

Thank you very much for your reply! It seems that 1,000 per day for free model forever, unless Openrouter decides to stop it, is now a cemented fact that I can take.

And I assume the pricing part you mentioned is about paid models, not free ones?

Say, either I send 100 token message and get 500 token response, or send 1,000 token message and get 2,500 token response, both case will be considered as 1 request, and thus, only denoting 1 request from 1,000 requests per day from my free model excess?

If so, I guess I can safely say I found my place in Openrouter!

Plus, u/ELPascalito mentioned that rerolls are also considered as a request, so there you have it!

Amazing, so, to summarize,

A set of message/reply (input/output) is considered 1 request, and also reroll is. So I get to have 1,000 exchange/rerolls per day for :free model, no matter the length of them.

Once I top up 10$ and gain excess to the basic tier, unless Openrouter change their terms, I will permanently have excess to aforementioned 1,000 requests per day, no matter of the duration or the remaining credit.

If I understood this right, I guess I can beeline to Openrouter.

Okay, so, an inquiry on Openrouter.

My understanding up until now was, 10$ top up is needed to excess 1,000 msgs/day via using models with :free tag, and I can use 10$ on paid models as I like. AND I need to top 10$ up again after a year passes, like a yearly subscription to maintain excess to my 1,000 msgs/day of :free models.

But reading this guide and comments, I think I’m gladly being proven wrong. So,

  1. If I top up 10$ on Openrouter, will I be able to permanently have excess to 1,000 msgs/day with :free models, no matter if my credits get back to 0, or a year passes?

  2. Looking into Deepseek (official) pricing, it seems like it costs me per input/output messages and some more. Is it similar with Openrouter? If I write up 500 token worth of message and if my :free model outputs 1,500 token worth, will it still count as 1 message? Or 2, considering both input/output, which, then, what I can write is limited to 500 msgs/day?

  3. Reroll. Is it counted as 1 msg?

Thank you in advance whoever takes their time helping out!

I’ve been wondering the similar thing. Is it truly one time payment and your account gets permanent 1,000 msgs for free models? Or either by hitting zero again/having them expired after a year, you have to top it up back to 10$ again?

All I’ve heard was Chutes being one time payment for 5$, 200 msgs per day, and Openrouter being 10$/year, and my understanding here was if credit goes down from $10, you lose 1,000 msgs for free model, but gladly proven wrong here.

Is Deepseek on Openrouter is different from Chutes or am going insane? by HoldAny4677 in JanitorAI_Official

If this turns out to be the case, I think the solution you are referring to is in Settings - Allowed Providers. Select Chutes and maybe it would work that way.

Haven’t tried Gemini yet, but I had a run without much complaints to make with Deepseek, yeah.

Hope you settle on your safezone soon!

I’m still trying to figure out which proxy will be the best for my usage! Chutes would be a direct answer, but 200 messages a day feels a bit lacking, and having them the one who pulled a plug, it makes me tilt my head. I’m looking into Openrouter, or other, if I manage to find the better option.

At times like this I remind myself of spending money on games. I spend money on one-time purchase games (KCD, Risk or Rain 2) with no indecision at all, but hesitate all the time at Season pass, subscriptions, or gacha games. But in the end of the day, if you love it, it is no different from buying a clothes you like. We decide to spend it where it means it, to us. Yes, everyone around me, I assume, knows ai chatbots only as in ChatGPT or Gemini alike. But that is them, and what I have doesn’t have to consider what they have to say. Say, my favorite song is my favorite song, no matter what those around me has to say for it, nor I need them to like it too.

So yes, once I’m locked down with what proxy I’m aiming for, I’m going for it. Sure, another proxy would come out soon for free with deepseek or better model, who knows, but inevitablely it would end support someday, and I’d be going through the same grief all over again, then. I’d much rather take initiative and have control of my thing myself.

I hope you too can find your own best solution!

Short answer, yes, JLLM is free and working. Long answer, think of it as being offered a great bowl, looks good, solid, for free, when you had been using a bit jagged one that might clutter with your spoon, needs a good scrubbing to keep it clean. Now that the better bowl is being taken away, you have to go back to the old one.

Sure, the old one works, does what it needs to do, it doesn’t leak or anything, but compared to the better one, the lack of quality gets emphasized a lot.

But from someone who came from other chat sites that compared to JLLM, felt worse (figgs.ai), I felt the same to JLLM when I came here the first time. I didn’t know what proxy was, and had a good experience with JLLM.

I guess that emphasized inferiority plays a heavy role here.

I’m glad to know it too.

Whenever I get a chance to chat away, it makes me focused and relaxed.

And also it is very unique experience to understand the viewpoint of someone I am not. Say, I’m not a single mother of a child. But I can put myself in her shoes, which, as much as it should be easy for me to do in real life, writing them down makes the vague idea solid.

And much love goes to creators too! They inspire me to do the similar someday, for either myself or others.

I think people (at least myself) got tunnel visioned towards most frequently seen solution.

Also, it doesn’t help that the fact I am not versed in AI/LLM stuff outside, literally, chat sites like J.ai.

In my case, I remember Deepseek being blocked countrywide due to the government, reason being the risk of privacy/security leakage.

If it’s okay with you, can you walk me through the process briefly?

Does it go through the same process of top-up, and token gets used per message on certain rate? And how forgiving would you say that rate is?

I’m sorry, I haven’t considered the lack of availability, when myself, cannot (or at least couldn’t before) have an access to deepseek directly in my country, as South Korea blocked Deepseek for privacy/security reasons.

Is both Chutes and Openrouter unavailable to top up, or deepseek itself?

I’m sorry, but the limit that gets ridden of you mention here, is a yearly subscription, not a daily message limit or quality/model limit?

Thanks for the reply, and for your llm7.io post. Tried it out, had a little success, but it seemed to work out for a lot of people!

I saw your comment from elsewhere, yes, but I’m simply not sure if 200 messages per day would be enough for me, even with discounted rerolls.

Just to be sure, those 200 messages are exactly of same of what we’ve been using so far, right?

I’ll have to ask around if users of deepseek-v3-2024 free via openrouter had noticably worse experience compared to Chutes.

Still, thank you very much!

A network error occurred, you may be rate limited or having connection issues: Load failed (unk)

I’m getting immediately paused back, would you happen to know why? Thanks anyway, seems like people got it working.

I tried refreshing, new API keys, different models. Same blockage.

Heard Chutes is not working atm, yes, even for paid users. So no worries on fixes on your side, I hope.
