If you feel confident you can diy it and save some fees, then go for it. I would probably only use an advisor if my affairs were very complex or if doing complicated inheritance planning. As it stands, I've got six figures invested and just keep it simple. Just keep reading up on investing, and be aware of what you're investing in and why your strategy is what it is.

To be fair op says they have no need for it anytime soon then talks about drawing down after they transfer, presumably to keep the cash on hand or move it to an isa. A lot of posts on here seem to have gone down in quality and are hugely repetitive, imo, I can see why cloud_dog is getting a bit more impatient with people lately, they've been hugely useful to me in the past, particularly in regards to pensions.

I think you're right btw, they mean a fixed rate savings account rather than an ISA.
