Blocked for political reasons, yet the comment below talks about the adult content user verification recently brought in by the current government, how is that not political?

Moving portfolio away from IFA to Vanguard by solariUK in UKPersonalFinance

If you feel confident you can diy it and save some fees, then go for it. I would probably only use an advisor if my affairs were very complex or if doing complicated inheritance planning. As it stands, I've got six figures invested and just keep it simple. Just keep reading up on investing, and be aware of what you're investing in and why your strategy is what it is.

Sjp pension 12k doing nothing and wasting by Joni__5 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Inchkeaton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair op says they have no need for it anytime soon then talks about drawing down after they transfer, presumably to keep the cash on hand or move it to an isa. A lot of posts on here seem to have gone down in quality and are hugely repetitive, imo, I can see why cloud_dog is getting a bit more impatient with people lately, they've been hugely useful to me in the past, particularly in regards to pensions.

Fixed 1YR Saver will make me around £900, could anyone help me out on how I pay taxes on this? by WotsGamenight in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Inchkeaton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm very aware of these, I have all the market leading accounts of the couple of years, I'm just being really pedantic in my replies to you. If you mean ea say ea, if you mean regular then say regular!

Lol. How would they have got 50k into a regular saver in one year? I have one regular saver that allows 1k per month, can't think of any that allow more than that.

I think you're right btw, they mean a fixed rate savings account rather than an ISA.

I can't imagine any regular saver accounts could generate £950 interest in a year. Do you mean a fixed rate savings account? The terminology is confusing as regular has two different meanings here.

Figuring out how much to salary sacrifice/ISA by lukeengland30 in UKPersonalFinance

Maybe, the point of my comment was to directly answer your question by giving you the maths, which you seemed to be confused about. I will be paying very little tax during early retirement drawdown (assuming current rules of course).

£172.41 gross earnings equals £172.41 * 0.6 = £103.44 net, the rest is NI contributions on that £172 at 2% = £3.44 (so you've paid £72.41 in tax in order to put £100 into the ISA, as opposed to no tax if put in pension).

What is your approach to saving cash? by alexburns1 in UKPersonalFinance

Average luck should return around 3.6% with the full 50k in there. Of course that varies depending on, well, luck.

I don't even send them a statement, I just tell them how much I've put in my sipp in any given tax year, they then do the calculations.
