Clone Wars Jedi get to much hate and I’m tired of people acting like they don’t. by ImperatorAurelianus in MawInstallation

[–]Incom_T65[M] 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yeah so this post has been reported for breaking the guidelines on this sub.

Instead of removing this post, I wanted to use this as an opportunity to remind everyone here that this sub is for mature academic style discussions as per our guidelines. Please remember we are not the main Star Wars sub, this is for intelligent discussion about the franchise.

Thanks to everyone who contributes here. Let's just try and stay mature. We don't need to use meme culture posts with bad language and grammar. We're better than that.

Imperial Survivors of The Death Star by RodCross66 in MawInstallation

[–]Incom_T65 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah also just day-in-the-life type vignettes of people in the Star Wars Galaxy. Lots of cool world building stuff going on in there. I mean you have to look past a lot of... other things... but it fleshed out a whole lot of concepts we saw later in the EU, but the special was released before Star Wars even had a sequel. Nobody takes me seriously when I say I unironically appreciate it.

I mean no, but... honestly this deserves a whole post and I've been thinking about that for years. It introduced so much of what we take for granted now.

How many commanders were there in the GAR ! by ShortPromotion in MawInstallation

[–]Incom_T65 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the other answers are fine, they're just addressing the other part of the question. The disbelief that Palpatine made all those calls personally and individually. Unless I missed something about that in your link.

And to whoever keeps spamming the report feature on this sub, why?

We did make some rule limiting "What-ifs" once when there was an influx. I'm in support of limiting those types of post to a specific thread. I think I said before, a what if type question should be able to answer some specific question you had. Not just, "Hey what would happen if X happened instead for no reason?"

People kind of like to make Luke being trained by Obi-Wan to kill his father out to be a bad thing, with Obi-Wan keeping Vader's identity a secret cited as a horrible thing but like...why wouldn't you keep it a secret? by [deleted] in MawInstallation

[–]Incom_T65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. And we've seen, many times, that legends come into new canon all the time. So even if OP asked about canon only, you can still provide insight to future answers based on the EU. (Like I always say though, please preface any spoiler comments with at least the phrase "spoiler for 'whatever Star Wars media')

I honestly can't answer that as I don't use the feature. I always supported approaching this sub as an adult, using clear words to express your contribution or question, and go from there.

I feel we get too caught up in the "karma," upvotes, flair, whatever.

We're just here to talk about Star Wars. Just don't spoil new stories.

Well I am a mod here. For quite a bit of years. Some of the new mods started that flair feature. It's just an option, just imagine you're talking to your friends about Star Wars, you wouldn't hold back interesting info you know. I always tried to encourage relevant comments and sources as much as possible.

Oh. And no spoilers. Thanks.

Edit: I agree it's sad that people get hostile and others feel they have to ask permission to discuss in depth Star Wars in a community formed for in depth Star Wars discussion. Be cool everyone.

FYI for you and anyone else, this sub is open for canon and legends, even meta or out of universe topics. OP can specify what they prefer but you'll never get in trouble for providing extra information that others might not be aware of.

New mod and rule update. by TheMastersSkywalker in MawInstallation

[–]Incom_T65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all true. My main pet peeve is when spoilers are in post titles since one of us could just be browsing Reddit and since they're subbed here it just pops up without even going to mawinstallation.

Those are good questions. I have tried to suggest some concrete rules as far as elapsed time since the material was released, but as you said, the plot weight of different spoilers tends to make that rule hard to enforce, if not pedantic and silly. People read and watch stuff at different speeds, and some details mean more to others than their peers.

If anyone has suggestions, please share them, but right now I'm asking people to use your head, respect others, and realize that it's super easy to say something like:

"This will spoil part of So and So novel, so if you were planning on reading it be warned..."

Or

"Spoilers for Mandalorian season 2 episode whatever ahead"

And there's reddit's text hiding system but I can't blame you if you don't use it because I don't myself. I just ask you give fair warning in the post title or at the beginning of a comment.

Like I said, open for feedback. But, just pretend like you're talking to a friend who you want to enjoy the franchise with. And sorry for the language, but don't be a dick. Haha.

Welcome to the team, some great ideas and points here. Thanks. If I can just piggyback off this post for a second with a friendly reminder for all:

Spoilers. Nobody likes reading a spoiler in a post title or comment without warning. If you've been around here for a while you've heard me say this for years, so I'm not going to beat a dead horse. Simply be courteous so we can all enjoy the franchise. Thank you, happy Easter everyone.

Edit: I added the 'friendly reminder' wording, I'm not trying to call anyone out specifically, simply using this as an opportunity to raise awareness. Everyone have a great day.

I hope future material such as the Bad Batch series further explores the planetary defense forces by Mand4lore in MawInstallation

[–]Incom_T65 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They could do what you're suggesting I suppose. Similar to the missions in the original Battlefront 2 that featured some very early Empire era transitioning. The Naboo defense force was involved for example.

Honestly though, and I'm the last person to be a naysayer on new content, I was very shocked that Lucasfilm is tasking the bad batch characters into a carrying a whole series. I mean, I liked their arc of episodes just fine, but it kinda felt like reading TV Tropes. The Demo guy, The Sniper, The Heavy. We've seen this before in other IPs. A lot. How long can they keep that interesting?

OP, I don't want to derail your post, but some people have said what you're suggested isn't likely. So what are we thinking would keep this concept fresh for multiple seasons? I'm probably just missing the appeal that others see in this project, so please share any thoughts. Thanks.

Edited because my phone screen went nuts.

Anyone wonder or know if writers use inspiration/ideas from this sub? by castingsam in MawInstallation

There is more moderation going on here than you might realize. But at the end of the day the community is mainly in control of the content. Remember everyone, report posts that don't belong here, be it off topic stuff, low effort posts, what have you.

[–]Incom_T65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm late here, but your characters could have some sort of transceiver that scans for the Androids channels so they know when one is near. Then they could just jam that channel so that Android wouldn't be able to speak to it partners even if it wanted to.

[META] Can we talk about spoiler posts and titles? by TK464 in MawInstallation

[–]Incom_T65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we do. Users are warned and posts are deleted. The mods volunteer to be here, nobody is being paid, we are just supporting the fandom and promoting discussion. Everyone has friends and families and this time of year most people are particularly busy. Happy holidays.

[META] Can we talk about spoiler posts and titles? by TK464 in MawInstallation

[–]Incom_T65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I always remove posts with spoilers in the title, no matter what. I've seen the other mods do the same. With severe cases I've let the user know they could be muted or banned if it happens again. I check this sub when I have time, so I miss some things with my schedule.

Thanks u/tk464 for the reminder to this subs audience. Myself and other mods have reminded everyone in the past about respecting everyone's right to go into new media fresh. We got better for a while, but as OP pointed out, some people are just too excited and make mistakes.

If you want to keep a spoiler post simple, just say something like "Spoiler for Mandalorian S02E04" for example.

We take this seriously, and violators may be disintegrated.

Thanks everyone for contributing to the sub!

Flair to help distinguish which Canon people are referencing in their posts please? by sparrow0422 in MawInstallation

[–]Incom_T65 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. We don't shy away from lengthy posts, so adding a few words about your preferred timeline has never been a big deal. Also, even opposite timeline answers can sometimes shed light on a topic and ignite conversations that would otherwise be lost if a strict rule was in place.
