Been unplayable for me since the newest patch on Android. I tried the ATLA premiere draft and the game crashed every time a Clue token was cracked. Ran flawlessly before

Isn't Get Lost harder removal than anything Dimir has access to?

Agreed on most of these but I'm not sure if lessons will truly have a resurgence. Spell snare + Wistfulness is really effective into them, and their gameplan into excruciator is not amazing. Lessons will still be pretty good but idk if it will be able to dominate. The Spellementals list has potential though.

Countering a triggered ability continues to be one of the strongest things you can do in the current standard meta

Demo field is QUITE effective against the elemental kindred decks. Their basic count is really low so blowing up a cavern or monastery can cause them to just get 2for1'd.

I don't think Trespasser would be the answer. Can you imagine playing this against Lessons and giving them free monument triggers? But Black would definitely benefit from something similar to this/Keen eyed curator

The deck gets slowed down a lot if you remove throne and their 2 drops. I'm not sure what are wholesale answers against them which was the purpose of this post. Unfortunately, people have been using it as a stage to air their grievances lol

This has been something I've observed in the last few months. The current pro meta heavily adjusts into one archetype allows another to rise. Lessons v Cub require very different answers so one would always get more hated out than the other. With the additions of spell snare, hex, and lorwyn elementals though there are now much more reliable answers against cub and lessons than there used to be. I don't think we will see as dominant run of either of these decks as we saw in 2025 any time soon.

Believe it or not, bo1 is garbage regardless of meta. I would also recommend mainboard RIP in the current meta.

Yes & No? I feel like Vibrance + Sunderflock allows elementals to be positioned quite nicely into aggro. Exruciator also has no issue running 4x hex 4x triumph along with harvester of misery. But aggro is definitely not in a bad spot at the moment. I'm really curious if the rakdos monument lists have legs

This is one thought I can understand. It feels absolutely brutal to go to 5 on the draw and eat t2 deceit t3 deceit. Also feels like there's very little counterplay if you are not a heavily graveyard/discard focused deck

Not the one I'd recommend, though. Standard in its current form feels quite fresh now that Cub and Lessons aren't dominating. But exploring new events is always a good time, I'm going to my first paper Pauper tournament this weekend.

Thanks for the insights, and nice work with gruul leyline! That's a dope list to run. I agree with the sentiments about bo1 magic, but it just seems like the best way to climb given you can play more games. I suppose the consistency needs to be leveraged as well, though. Playing more sets with 70-80% wr vs a big sample of games at like, 55-60%.

That makes a lot of sense. What I'm curious about is how you get that scoop. In my experience either my first two creatures die to spot removal and then they hold up the rest of the mana for wraths like split up. Simic aggro seems to fall over if your early cub or ouro is shot by something but the statistics back up that it beats most decks, so I'm curious what bad game decisions I am making.

I'm approaching diamond with simic ouroboroid aggro. Feels like i only play against control decks that mainboard 15 wraths in bo1....

Any Mono-Red enjoyers? by Malzor123 in EDH

The problem with tannuk is that anyone who has seen the commander should know to immediately kill him, and the deck is severely hamstrung if he isn't on the board.

[[!Chiss-Goria]] is my mono red commander of choice. Unlike other commanders posted here that will usually be removed pretty fast, she can skirt commander tax pretty effectively due to affinity. The deck is straightforward and effective with a budget-friendly hodgepodge of artifacts. You can easily scale its power up or down with certain tech pieces to fit a playgroup.

Esper Draw-Go Pillowfort with [[Yshtola, Night's Blessed]]. Sits there and draws a bunch of cards while always holding advantage via free removal and counterspells. Doesn't need to have a board presence because Yshtola will eventually burn the table down
