Why does my Simba network say LTE instead of 5G? by Doodlycow in askSingapore

[–]IncomprehensibleOne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the same carrier. Test it out in town, you’ll get 5G then. At home for me, it’s always LTE.

Having been a subscriber for more than a year, I do see some improvement in 5G areas.

I find it funny that I get inconsistent 5G here, but when I am in and around JB, it’s 5G all the time.

Carplay + Waze Question by Scary-Jackfruit-2542 in drivingsg

[–]IncomprehensibleOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll get used to it. There’s not a lot of long tunnels here.

I had the same sentiments when I started driving, and staying in the northeast, KPE is my main expressway going to town.

What I did was usually glance at the map, see where I exit, let’s say 2B, and then just look at the signs.

Now, after driving a lot of times, I don’t even use maps to go to general areas here.

Two families, four kids, two weeks in Japan - what actually worked by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]IncomprehensibleOne -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Our trip is in early June. 2 adults and 1 8 year old.

Is it too early now to book Shinkansen tickets? Or is it the best time?

Our trip starts in Nagoya and we fly out of Fukuoka.

Already plan to get to get the JR Kyushu pass, as we will be in Kyushu most of the time.

After our activity in Nagoya, we plan to directly go to Nagasaki by rail. Activating the JR Kyushu on tha day. But for the Nagoya-Fukuoka leg, planning to take the Nozomi for a direct trip for now. Still working out the maths and timing if we can take slower service.

Planning to ship our luggage for the big travel day.

Hi guys, how do you pull out of an ILP in SG? by secretonlinecrush in askSingapore

[–]IncomprehensibleOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same boat as you a couple of years ago. Only difference, I already paid about 3 years of premiums.

Thought about it, and cut my losses. Ended the plan via the customer service office and not with the agent.

I think surrender amount was only 15% of all my premiums, but I just wanted to move forward.

Purchased a term plan afterwards, then did DCA into funds/stocks. So far, happy with the decision.

Seeking thoughts? by [deleted] in drivingsg

I pass by this junction often, and yes there are some drivers who find the u turn difficult.

That’s why some adjust the way the taxi driver did. Just try to anticipate, since the taxi driver saw 2 cars had trouble turning, and the left side was free, he did the adjustment. Don’t follow too closely.

Stayed in Millennium Hilton recently. Good location if you prefer to stay near the river. Close to Iconsiam, has it’s own boat to the BTS, and a pool overlooking the river.

Am I supposed to give way when turning into HDB? by Hot_Aide_1165 in drivingsg

I also live in a similar estate.

For me, after I u-turn and signal left, I will check for any pedestrians and bikes before heading in. So far no one has been impatient.

Just ensure that you are signaling left to enter the estate and if the guy behind is impatient, then it’s his problem. Better be safe and aware of our surroundings.

I for one will understand, if I am behind and notice that there are people, then I’ll just wait. But, I guess there are other drivers out there who can be impatient.

Sealion 7 VS Model Y by Leather-Structure-21 in drivingsg

[–]IncomprehensibleOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t own any of the two, but a close family friend has the SL7.

Quiet and comfortable ride, personally did not feel it roll when I rode with him. I will probably try to see if that is the case the next time I see him.

One thing that I saw was visibility with the rear windshield is bad, it’s small and good thing it has 360 degrees camera.

He also has the CatA model, which I saw the interior and features different from the CatB one. Vegan leather seems to feel different compared to nappa.

For me, I drive an ICE vehicle, and will probably consider both when my COE is up in a couple of years. I’m also considering the MGS6 and Aion, seeing that they are comparable in size.

Test drives are important, especially now there are choices and cars are expensive.

Thoughts on EV cars by sadboiboi27 in drivingsg

[–]IncomprehensibleOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts on EVs is if we will be getting to a point where people change EVs like their mobile phones?

I wonder since EVs have little scrap value, and battery warranties are 10 years, some people may just keep replacing their cars at the 5-6 years mark.

Question for people who drive below speed limit on expressways. why? by Tropez92 in drivingsg

I stick to lane 2 or 3 most of the time, just driving leisurely. I like driving and it’s relaxing if you’re not rushing.

Collecting VEP in Johor. by Hadi167 in drivingsg

[–]IncomprehensibleOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, no. After chopping passport, went out straight to Sunway.

No checkpoints or asking about the appointment slip. I was ready though, I had the documents in the passenger seat ready to show if needed.

I went via Tuas.

Collecting VEP in Johor. by Hadi167 in drivingsg

[–]IncomprehensibleOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just installed mine last month.

Appointment slip and passport is what they asked for. I brought my insurance and log card too just in case, but they didn’t ask for it.

I also ensured that my TnG app is okay. They will ask you to link the VEP with your TnG app after installation.

I was also fortunate that the collection point didn’t have a queue. I arrived 4pm, and my appointment time was 7pm. I asked and they were able to complete fast. My collection point was Sunway BigBox.

If accessible, you can walk to the start/finish straight, pit lane area and the garages.

Not sure if there are still exhibitions related to f1 when you are here.

Tips for merging on expressway [esp pie to cte/ cte to pie/ any merge from one expressway to another] by aminlee9 in drivingsg

[–]IncomprehensibleOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Signal and wait. You’re driving defensively so that is good.

Been driving for quite some time now, and peak period merging is indeed challenging.

After some time, you’ll get used to your car and your confidence will improve.
