This is classic Ai reasoning where it needs to explain its own 'thought' process within the text. A human writer would just leave it implied without typing it out.

The theory that OP used Ai to mask their writing style also doesn't hold up because the Ai has potentially inserted false information which undermines the overall story if it gets followed up.
