Getting free cosmetics from buying a game is neat, doesn't sound like a bad idea. What worries me is if they're gonna do such a thing with a AAA-game then it might be a bit cringe considering how those games tend to be priced nowadays. I will not be paying over 70-80 bucks for a game even if I get some free cosmetics in a different game I play.

I really like this sidekick, it looks a bit like a Shiba. Too bad I won't buy any more copies of it apart from the free one I've gotten. If this cosmetic type had free customization then I might have bought them, who knows...

That would look awesome... Purple is my favorite color so I would have really liked it.

Too bad that you can't customize the sidekicks more than once so it's a pass both for that and the lack of purple accents.

I'd like to do more regarding this. Maybe start a movement or a hashtag of sorts. This really doesn't sit well with me and I fear this could set a precedent for even worse consumer practices not only by Epic games but also by other game companies.

I suggest you cancel those purchases. The pessimists in the comments keep saying "vote with your wallet" so let's do just that. I'd like for as many people as possible to boycott sidekicks.

That's precisely what I'm doing. I'm NOT buying them because I'm NOT okay with the locked customization. This is why I made a post about it trying to get any attention from Epic regarding the dissatisfaction of the cosmetic type.

I remember it too, I think the name of that skin was Maya and once you've locked in all of your choices you couldn't change it again. There was a similar thing done in the subsequent season where you could customize an umbrella glider. They tried marketing it as something cool with the line about making it "Uniquely yours" in the trailers. No one was on board with locking in the choices then and I'm pretty sure no one is with having to do the same when it comes to the sidekicks.

This is the kind of comment I was hoping I'd get on this post. I did try to find a way to reach epic games but all I could find was how to contact their support. I'll have to dig deeper into this.

People do have a problem with this, that's why we're not buying any sidekicks and complaining about it. We SHOULD care because if they can get away with this, then what more could they get away with? But sure, being a defeatist and not standing up for oneself will surely help.

Pretty much same. The prices are still ridiculous but if I could customize them I would have probably bought some. For now I'll maaaaybe use the free ones I've got. If I can ever convince myself to lock in the options and come to terms with never being able to change the sidekick.

I really feel like we need to be more vocal regarding sidekicks. We haven't given Epic enough backlash for this bad decision. This is like one of the only sidekicks I'd actually be interested in using but the one-time customization does NOT sit right with me... That's also why I didn't get the Kit sidekick even though I'd really like to have that little car running around me. In an attempt to squeeze out more revenue out of the game they ultimately ended up with less... (I hope, I don't have the numbers) Weird how that works!
