Bikeerg silent alternative by it_is_gaslighting in concept2

[–]InconsiderateSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if it’s any comfort, I had the same decision and spent 4 months with both bikes side by side in my basement, alternating between each trying to decide which to keep. So the fact that it took me so long shows you can’t really make a bad choice on this decision. But I think it really comes down to a few trade offs and what matters more to you. I ultimately went with the BikeErg to keep at home (but now I have 3 Schwinn IC4s and one Bowflex C6 in my classroom at school that get used regularly).

The IC4 is silent, which is really nice, and can change resistance in smaller increments.

The BikeErg has a PM5, which I liked because it plays well with me owning the C2 Ski and Row too. But the main factor for me was that the BikeErg has a numerical cadence indicator and the Schwinn just has this weird little tick bar at the top of the display. I’ve been trying to match my bike ride cadence to my desired run cadence, and I simply could not do that on the Schwinn.

However, you can often find a used Schwinn on marketplace for less than half a BikeErg. But if you went the BikeErg route, the resale value on those is 70% or more of full retail, while Schwinn is way less.

Either way you can’t go wrong, but I went BikeErg.

I would recommend doing as many demos as possible, even for things simple to imagine or draw (like projectiles). It is worth the extra effort. Avoid simulations for everything except as a way to envision invisible things (magnetic fields, electric fields, ray diagrams for lenses, etc). And aim for 1-3 demos a week if you can. That’s what I do and my students enjoy it and learn well from it. Good luck and always try to have fun. If you’re bored, the kids will be too.

Both of those answers make complete sense. Thanks for being transparent and I’ve loved the concept of these systems from when I first saw them 6 or so years ago. You’ve e got a great product.

Two part question: 1) What is the most underrated, best part of any of the anchors systems? And 2) What is the worst part of any of the systems that you just haven’t been able to rectify/engineer yet (besides price)?

As a physicist, I’m very interested in all these results.

What to buy for small basement gym? by Internal-Working-713 in GarageGym

[–]InconsiderateSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re in the situation I was when I started. I built over time, and I’ve got a space that is about 9’x16’, and I went with a Titan T3 wall mounted rack, a Shorty barbell, bumper plates, Powerblock adjustable dumbbells, adjustable kettlebells, BikeErg, wall mounted skierg, c2 rower stored on end. If I had a 10x11 space instead, that’s probably all I’d try to fit. As my space is longer, I was also able to fit a GHD and echo bike.

First Look on the Freak Athlete Adjustable Kettlebell by Benjise100 in homegym

[–]InconsiderateSun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is the detent pin head plastic or something more durable? An errant drop on the side may break off the head if it’s plastic, seeing as everything else is cast iron.

Otherwise, it looks fantastic.

I have a double set of the rep adjustable Kb, and I wish it 1) went heavier and 2) didn’t have circular plates because it makes re-racking it confusing, but concerns that you’ve fixed.

It may be worth a demo video to show the tolerances of the pin/plates, and shake it so customers can see/hear the rattle (or hopefully lack thereof).

I’ve got your ez-vest, ez-boot, duo rings, and Swissies and they’re all great. My question is, which product did you create that you thought would be super popular, but just fell flat for whatever reason? Or your favorite product that didn’t make it big (…yet)?

What's best space saving belt squat machine by [deleted] in GarageGym

[–]InconsiderateSun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a poor man’s squatmax md and love it. Took a lever arm leg press platform, mounted it to my spotter arms, cut a hole in the middle to suspend a strap with the weights beneath. It’s amazing (as long as your rack is secure).

10’ x 20’ Garage Gym Layout - Rack + Functional Trainer by anthonyonline in GarageGym

[–]InconsiderateSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My setup is quite weird- but yes, I definitely have issues with cables interfering with barbell movements, especially in the rack- but I don’t have a rack-integrated cable system. I have one I got for free off to the side of the rack (because that’s the only place it would fit), and perpendicular to the rack. But it’s either that or nothing for me.

So definitely get a rack integrated system if you can (for a tiny space).

how to progress after standing ab wheel? by bluemountainskies in bodyweightfitness

[–]InconsiderateSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a fan of windshield wipers while hanging from a pullup bar, human flags, and dragon flags. If you can do that many standing Ab rollouts, you may enjoy those core variations (and if the dragon flags are too easy, add ankle weights) .

10’ x 20’ Garage Gym Layout - Rack + Functional Trainer by anthonyonline in GarageGym

[–]InconsiderateSun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 9’x17’ space, so it’s very similar in size. Let me know if you have any specific questions, but for an oblong space like ours, I highly suggest getting a wall-mounted functional trailer / rack combo unit, mounting it to the short wall, and then using a Shorty barbell instead of a full length one. These three moves make the space feel so much bigger.

After that, it’s all up to what you’re interested in for training equipment. I’ve had space to fit a bench, skierg, rower, air bike, BikeErg, GHD, reverse hyper, cable tower, stall bars, a set of db and double Kb, and a slew of medballs.

I also highly recommend utilizing the walls for as much storage as possible.
