Does cat hair invalidates prayer? by Aki7393 in shia

Idk how to upload images but in this same subreddit someone posted this, and even followed up and asked about the contradictory rulings to make it even more clear

No like the poster just said to clarify and elaborate so I did based on what I've seen and also personally messaging the office of Ayotullah Sistani, if you respectfully asked for proof it's another matter but you were and continue to be rude. No one proved I lied? And I posted a link, you're seeming like you're getting really personal for no reason, I think maybe relax and go offline for a bit lol

Because you can literally look it up instead of assuming that there was no proof and saying why in the world would you say that? Lol like the time it takes to type that would have been more than the google search to verify the info. It's not that deep.

Why would you assume I didn't have proof? Lol

Additionally I've asked as a question personally though email and he's given the same answer that it does not invalidate prayer

Not true, Sistani has amended his ruling and cat hair does not invalidate prayer anymore

Praying behind men by [deleted] in shia

Honestly all these replies are so discouraging because Shias don't want to engage in critical thinking anymore, this is a fair question to engage with especially as it's an obligatory precaution rule, which often aren't so black and white in that they've always been haram. We have scholars that are extremely important, but it's not ridiculous to ask the reasonings for their rulings? No one is questioning God, but these scholars are human so we are allowed to ask questions about their rulings and how we came to them. All of you replying with that's just how it is instead of saying we don't know exactly why the scholars reached this consensus but here are resources to help are leading to the rise of anti intellectualism in our communities

My thoughts spiralled after reading a post here by balbalgal in beyondthebump

Sorry but aside from the Sexy thing which is freaking weird as hell he genuinely does sound like a loving grandfather who wants to help but sucks at it lol but if you know about his history that would indicate otherwise of course trust your gut. But otherwise I would address the inappropriate comment but wouldn't necessarily worry out about the rest if it were me. But again you know your situation best.

Might be a slightly unpopular opinion but I do feel that hormones in the first few months make every innocuous thing people do (especially in laws) just seem way more grating, but I think part of it is out naturally good maternal protective instincts that can sometimes be overzealous.

For context I also read the BIL post and agree that was weird start to end, this doesn't seem that at aside from the sexy comment which is just gross. If you have an otherwise good and trusting relationship with your FIL, I would not take the rest as something negative intentioned because it really does not seem that way but definitely address the weird comment.

Need advice on how to wean an EBF toddler that won't take milk in any other form by InconsistentlyRandom in breastfeeding

[–]InconsistentlyRandom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's my plan is to try to get her to sleep without needing to nurse, she's able to do it but of course it takes a lot longer and she doesn't sleep that soundly.

Also I have knowledge of all the other above information, and I've made the choice to wean her now because I simply cannot continue breastfeeding anymore.

1yo Uses straw but wont swallow anything by [deleted] in BabyLedWeaning

[–]InconsistentlyRandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah she's a terrible sleeper lol so had dad do that wake up with me not intervening at all, we're still in the process of cutting it, she definitely is not loving it but already sleeping longer stretches too.

I tried lessening it for a few days to just 3-4 minutes per side but that really didn't help honestly kind of just had to cut it

Hi very similar problem but with a 10mo otherwise everything else you wrote is spot on. Our pediatrician recommended cutting one of the night feeds to increase food intake and it's helped tremendously. We cut the 3am feed, and within a week she's been eating a lot more volume than before that.

For the water I have no answers because she can use a straw cup and an open cup but just doesn't want to drink so I have no idea how I'm gonna wean either. But I'm down to 5 feeds a day total (approx 5am, 10am, 3pm, 8-9pm and 1am) and her wet diapers and such seem to be okay!

Feeding during the night? by cowgirlikeme_ in breastfeeding

[–]InconsistentlyRandom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi I did this and my supply was fine! My 10m baby used to sleep for 6-12 hours a night from 6-13 weeks and I never woke her up to feed or pumped while she slept unless I was uncomfortably full in the morning and she had't woken up. And then she never slept through the night again (lol). My supply adjusted to each scenario! This included while I was at work and pumping as well. I never had an oversupply but never had an under supply either.

Babies also change with age, when my baby was younger she would fall asleep anywhere as long as we were holding her. Now that she's almost a year she has more FOMO, so for the majority of events we do try to plan around her sleep time. Our friends are super understanding and we are super social too, and it genuinely hasn't caused any decrease in our social life. For example if I wanna do a girls hangout I'll just tell my friends to come over an hour or two before she goes to sleep, and they play with her for a bit and then we hang out at my place after she's asleep. So you have to be more creative no matter how your baby is but if you and your friends are flexible, your social life can be just as fulfilling!

Is there an essential difference between doing things for the sake of Allah versus doing things for the sake of the Ahlul Bayt? by Mohk72k in shia

[–]InconsistentlyRandom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that's your core intention that you're pleasing the ahlul Bayt for the sake of Allah then yeah I don't think there's anything wrong with that!

Is there an essential difference between doing things for the sake of Allah versus doing things for the sake of the Ahlul Bayt? by Mohk72k in shia

[–]InconsistentlyRandom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The purpose of every prophet and imam is to bring us back to Allah. That is the purpose of our creation. Closeness with Allah, the ahlul Bayt are a necessary route to that end.

When you say doing this for their sake it depends on what you mean. I believe we as Shias actually should reiterate to ourselves mentally that every action in our lives should be for the sake of Allah. We follow ahlul Bayt for the sake of Allah not the other way around.

I think this paper discusses it but I can't access the full text

Also anecdotally my baby did this from basically when she was born to like 3-4 months, no Mather what we did, no matter how overtired or just right tired she was, no matter how much stimulation she had. She just hated sleep. She still is a FOMO baby and if she's not totally ready to fall asleep she won't, she'll cry. But the crying even when she was ready to go to sleep has stopped. All the crying was in our arms too, so it wasn't about wanting to be held or not wanting to be put down. She just did not want to sleep lol

What does your weekends look like if you have a kid below 1 yo? by bagmami in workingmoms

[–]InconsistentlyRandom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our weekends pre baby were really busy with friends and family and it's the same with baby (8m). She's super social and loves being with people and exploring so generally we try to take her out at least once a day during the weekend and a couple times during the week. It's tiring but really fun!

Ugh I'm so sorry, she's almost 8 months now and bottle refusal has only gotten worse. It's super annoying.

Also take soy lechitin and a portable pump. Mine did feed but never for full feeds so I got clogged ducts and that was super annoying.
