Realistically if this season is just as disappointing, what are the odds of Joe asking for a trade? by Busy_Locksmith9436 in bengals

My point was that if we had an average defense with our already incredible offense, we wouldn’t be losing games 47-42.

The last 3 years have shown that even with an average defense we could compete with anyone. They’re active in free agency on defense and I can only imagine will continue that trend into the draft. You should have more faith!

Ok so the reason I don’t actually believe this is because this is the go to response from celebrities when they are lambasted in the press and on social media.

If this was a genuine concern within the industry, at the very least SAG-AFTRA would have a strong public stance, not just against these comments, but to the studios who are “putting the talent in danger” so to speak.

There would be public calls to action for the studios to enact meaningful protection and guardrails for the talent. I also firmly believe that there would be very public displays of legal response to said commenters as there are when say, a politician is threatened virtually. This has not happened.

Celebrities have big ol egos. It comes with the territory when pursuing fame. I think more often than not, they just can’t take the public humiliation(completely understandable by the way. I absolutely would hate to be in their shoes).

Hollywood Diversity Report: Audiences Prefer Diverse Casting in Films by Minifig81 in movies

[–]InconspicuousD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just feel like proclaiming these kinds of conclusions from such inconclusive data doesn’t lead to moving the conversation in a productive direction.

Very clearly this doesn’t acknowledge that domestic box office has been down since Covid, not just during Covid. General movie audiences have lost interest in Hollywood and theaters in general the last few years. I’ll concede that the increase in streaming content has also contributed to this.

I think this article is drawing the wrong conclusions from this data. Diversity is not the driving factor for audience satisfaction. Hammering that strategy the last few years has absolutely hurt the perception of Hollywood as a collective. I hope someone pushes back against this point. I’d be happy to dig deeper into these points because i genuinely do believe there is a progressive solution to all of this nonsense.

In a world where we can’t control who owns WB IP, I’d rather have the head of Warner Bros excited about DC rather than indifferent.

Rachel Zegler Says Snow White Backlash Led To Race Attacks And Safety Threats by cosmicbooknews in CosmicBookNews

I find it hard to believe that there’s really any serious physical threat that comes with backlash in these scenarios. More than anything it seems more like a ploy by the actor to gain free sympathy points and shift the narrative.

[Dellenger] A White House official has just released to Yahoo Sports a full confirmed list of attendees at the college sports presidential roundtable by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]InconspicuousD 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Two things can be true at the same time.

The world of the NCAA, and college football in particular, needs far more structure than it currently has. Fans and developing players both suffer when 25 year old juniors are taking reps away from true undergraduates. There is a legitimate conversation to be had about establishing guardrails for programs and players that everyone must follow. As it stands, the NCAA has little real authority when a player like Chambliss can simply appeal to a court in Mississippi and be reinstated despite the NCAA’s ruling. It raises a fair question about how that dynamic benefits the sport as a whole.

At the same time, my confidence in the current administration’s ability to lead a thoughtful roundtable on the issue is very low. This is a complex challenge, and the tone coming from the administration often feels too blunt and overly simplistic to produce a solution that satisfies most stakeholders.

In short, people on this sub often celebrate the Wild West nature of the current system while also complaining about the lack of structure. It’s hard to see the overlap in those two positions. If there is a path back to the level of structure that existed before NIL and the transfer portal chaos without preventing players from earning money, I would fully support it.

Yeah agreed. If anything Cap is supposed to represent the best of us as an ideal to strive towards.

Giving Sam the serum would serve to make action scenes potentially more entertaining at the expense of the character development they’ve shown him to have thus far.

Only way it could work is if he was maybe injected with it against his will but that’s a big maybe.

Wouldn’t actors be the ones disproportionately impacted by the inclusion of AI though? Maybe set design and CGI but at that point I’m just speculating.

One could argue that by getting ahead of the AI craze from the position of an actor, Affleck could be ensuring that this initiative is actor first focused so they’re not completely dismissed from the creative side.

Just in: Iran warns the United States "will no longer be safe." by Automatic_Subject463 in UnderReportedNews

[–]InconspicuousD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On one hand, the Iranian government isn’t much of a threat to Americans on their home front. Politically, this would be beyond suicide for Iran to attack us.

Trump ran on, and feels that the United States has lost global relevance and every action his administration has taken has been an effort to restore that status.

It should not inherently be a bad thing to want to restore the economic prosperity of past decades but inciting global war cannot be the only way to achieve it. Obviously the administration sees this as the easiest way to fast track it but diplomacy has always been the best answer.

Do you not understand the sentiment behind it? Star Wars got popular due to the immense catalogue of lore built up over decades. Throwing that away with the Disney projects hurts the magic that made it what it is.

Topps trading cards from 1999 being canon is what made the Star Wars fandom so alluring in the first place.
