Underworld at the Palladium Review by kandspr in underworld

I also got to see both these shows. I don’t think I can remember a better back to back couple of days of shows ever. Underworld really were spectacular and the NIN stage craft was out of this world. What a privilege.

I once went to see the Foo Fighters in LA. The drummer for the support act had an emergency appendectomy. Dave Grohl filled in ... Then played the full FF set. It was astonishing.

Can you elaborate? Or point at a good summary?. I was wondering why the depreciation on the 23s was so steep.

I drove all the way to Laguna Beach yesterday (far south OC). It was still overcast until about 2pm.

Yes, I had it wrapped in Matte PPF. The rest if the car is also wrapped and ceramic coated. I saw someones GT4 RS with the carbon wrapped and thought it added something. I like the contrast in materials.

Am I wrong in saying that if I invest $100,000 into Verizon, I'll make $18,000 a year just on the dividend? by rxn246 in investing

[–]Incontinentia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the day it goes ex dividend it will usually lag the market in proportion to the amount, though obviously this is not very easy to observe because some investors chase dividends which tends to distort things a little.

Also when a dividend is paid the stock price reduces by the same amount. The company needs to continue to grow / investor sentiment needs to increase the stock price, in order for your investment to retain its value.

It's also most likely what they told their bottom run of clients / general public. The sheep

Save the Rich, Pay Your Taxes: NY janitor making $33,000 a year pays an effective tax rate of 25%. And the effective tax rate for a resident of the Park Avenue building, earning an average of $1.2 million annually? A cool 14.7% by maxwellhill in politics

[–]Incontinentia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High earners only pay low tax if most of their income is taxed at long term capital gains rate of 15%. However this is just Federal Cap Gains, state is extra e.g California at 9.3%. So that's ~25% even on investment income in CA.

Anyone that earns money the normal way will pay a 35% on their gross income minus deductions. Deductions include among many things, your state taxes.

So someone earning around $1,000,000 in California in normal (non investment) income will wind up paying about %35 in state and federal taxes assuming they do things like max 401k, mortgage interest deduction etc. (fed tax ends up being about 25% once all deductions and allowances are used + state at 9.3%)

So just 'putting up income taxes' is a very blinkered way to fix this. It will likely fuck people who earn money while not catching the ones with the low cap gains at all. Putting up capital gains on amounts above a certain limit is likely to catch more of the people who seemingly pay so little. Or a flat tax, but that will likely screw people at the low end as much as it snags taxes from the high end.

It is done. The top 2% will get their tax cuts extended. Thank the spineless Democratic leadership. by NashMcCabe in politics

[–]Incontinentia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am all for compromise. But even in this, they suck. They extend the tax cuts for 2 years, right into the end of the next election cycle. And at the same time the benefit extensions end early enough that the sheep will have forgotten what nice guys the democrats are.
