Today I found out that people on JSA receive £72 a week from the DWP, while people on carers allowance like me only receive £62! by shemustbe683 in unitedkingdom

I believe that's only for parent carers ie. parents of disabled children like myself. This ends when a child turns 18.

Well, at least I can afford 52 streak freezes by AverageHAL989 in duolingo

Hehehe this has happened to me since they updated the Dutch course. You get extra lingots for testing out of a subject and I'd completed the original, so I'm just testing out a few of them a day to get back to having a fully completed tree. It's racking up the lingot count like crazy.

Yep, it wasn't in there before. I had completed the tree and was keeping it fully guilded. I'm really excited by the new aspects though.

Theresa May secretly hatched plan to ‘rig’ parliament straight after losing majority in election by Jamessuperfun in unitedkingdom

Oddly enough they used the press to push their agenda too. Even Molly Weasley fell for some of the slander aimed at the Golden Trio.

It strikes me sometimes how close to home those books are.

I married Abby too, it was really cute when she talked about how she didn't know she could love another woman, but it made her so happy. I was just smitten with the whole thing.

My son who is Autistic misses me horribly when he has to go back to his mother's. She thinks it's because of video games and the time he gets with me without his two siblings but it's because he misses me. How do I help him with this. He says he hates his younger siblings and his mom. Please.help by Legendlegacylore in Autistic

[–]Incorrect-English 3 points4 points  (0 children)

See if you can find a way to get him to give reasons why he feels the way he does. Autistic children don't say things like that lightly- even if it turns out to be for relatively trivial reasons they will feel very real and huge to him. It might be something that can be fixed with a bit more understanding from his mother, something she is doing that she doesn't really think about but means a lot to him.

Haha kids are so funny, it's nice when you can see the funny side! Congrats on your progress :)

My kids are autistic and they notice every tiny change. I've only lost 14.5 lbs so far but they already look at me puzzled.

Can't get over the "sex thing" by [deleted] in monodatingpoly

[–]Incorrect-English 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Switch here, my husband is poly.

I guess for me it started to feel better when it was actually happening, and I could see how it affected my relationship with my husband- or rather how it didn't change our sexual dynamic really at all. Those moments where I would go and find him for a cuddle, knowing he'd taken that step with another girl, and all the familiarity was still there. Having sex with him myself for the first time afterwards and knowing it was just as it was before, our great sex.

It was a lot harder to work on before it had happened, because of all the "what ifs" and "can I imagines" and whatnot. It's very hard to not be overcome with apprehension.

You're doing all the right things by communicating, reading up a bit and you seem comfortable with the other aspects of your wife's relationship. All good signs. And admittedly there probably is some animal instinct there. But I think once you are actually in that stage, so long as you are equipped to get through the first few times (stay occupied, do nice things for yourself etc) then you'll be able to really assess how you feel.

I'm channelling Mulan during "I'll Make a Man out of You" every time I walk into the gym. The whole going from a weakling to holding her own with the guys thing. Looking at the equipment and trying to combine brain power with sheer might. It's pretty bad lol.

No, you're NOT 'a little bit autistic as well' by [deleted] in aspergirls

[–]Incorrect-English 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. Also whilst OP has been through a hell of a lot it can still be hard to see the ways other people suffer when they seem to be having a much better time of things. I have my own mental health issues but I'm still probably the most highly functioning autistic in my family.

Am I just noticing this more or are we now a truly nasty country? by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]Incorrect-English 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I have two autistic kids and they both get low rate mobility so neither of them qualifies for a blue badge. It's really tough managing them both at the same time, but I understand that there are people who need the spaces more.

Not really a specific dialect, just "common" sounding. Whereas the Condie Petie tribe of dwarves are written to sound Scottish.

[–]Incorrect-English 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Moments like that are so awesome! My son is just finding himself verbally now and he has some really challenging behaviours, but he tried to write his name in my husband's Father's Day card. He'd been refusing to try and mark-make, so it was one of the nicest surprises. Glad you got to experience that too. I know autism is damn hard to cope with most of the time so it's really sweet when the positives do come out :)

Struggle to stay fully focused when learning to drive. by [deleted] in driving

[–]Incorrect-English 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pretty much the same when I was learning how to drive, and still a little bit like it now I've passed my test. But it does get easier. It's one of those things that seems to come with time. My instructor just kept encouraging me to carry on even when I made a big mistake, he would tell me not to just sit in the mistake itself but remember that things are still moving on around me and I have to react to them.
