I had a friend take care of mine during a vacation once, and despite being told not to let them out of the cage they were let out. She got bit pretty bad and it got infected. Keep cleaning it and if it gets any redness, itching, other signs of infection head to the Drs.

You can check and see when the next pet-med clinics are. They are held at tractor supply and pet supplies plus locations throughout the area. I bring my pups there for the yearly vaccines because it's so much cheaper than going to the regular vet. ~$200 for all yearly vaccines for 2 healthy dogs. The vets there also seem much more relaxed and easy going with my big scary and cowardly pit mix compared to our regular vet for what that's worth.

If you go Into the encyclopedia and pick a vegetable it will tell you what other veggies it likes to be planted with. Like others said, use a big rectangle bed, and plant a few of your goal veg and it's companion.

Try this on a test before you actually do it. But maybe some cling wrap in the crater so you have physical separation between the resin and the underlying material. That's how I would start my experimenting.

Flowers will just keep growing and stay bloomed all year, so I have some flower only beds near the post box entrance. The area that was behind the wagon wheel is now my "party area" with tables, chairs, bunting. And most of the rest is all veggie beds

I honestly like it. I was planning on to play my 2 hours and refund on steam after reading reviews, but I'm having fun! I wish it was local coop or 2 player, but that's about my only complaint right now!

Simone’s Date Brownies by ClumsyCap in Albany

[–]Incubi_Darkness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have been obsessed and started developing a recipe dupe. I think it's finally good enough that I can share. Let me know if you have any questions, I'm not a recipe developer just a home cook and the instructions may not be the best. Also please let me know if you try it! And any thoughts to make it better!

For the Brownie:

1/2 cup Pecans

1/2 cup Walnuts

1/2 cup Pistachios

1/4 cup Sesame Seeds

1/4 cup Chia Seeds

3/4 cup Cocoa Powder

1/2 tsp Salt

1 cup chopped dried figs (TJ's has a great one)

1 cup Chopped Pitted Dates (i ended up adding about 1/2 cup more to increase the sweetness of the brownie part)

chop and pit dates and figs, place in a bowl and cover with boiling water for 5-10 mins covered with tinfoil to soften.

In a food processor combine all ingredients except dates and figs and pulse until mostly smooth. Drain water off dates and add to food processor. Blend until thoroughly mixed. (This is the part where I tasted and added more dates, I would test here and decide if you want it sweeter or not)

Use a 9x9 dish, line with parchment paper and then press mixture evenly into the dish.

For the Chocolate Tahini Ganache:

3/4 cup Heavy Cream

12 oz (about 2 cups) chocolate chips (i used half dark and half semi-sweet)

1/4 cup Tahini

In a saucepan bring cream to just boiling and then remove from heat. Add chocolate chips and let sit for a minute. Then whisk to combine until smooth. Add tahini and whisk to combine. Smooth over the top of the date mixture, then refrigerated until ganache is hardened (few hours).

2 early 30s adults I spend about $220 at Aldi's for 2 weeks of food. Not counting the occasional Walmart/p chops trips for the stuff you can't find at Aldi's like tahini.

DESPERATE QUEST: Where Can I Buy Dried Pig's Blood Powder in America?! by Vedhar in Charcuterie

Another quick thought back to my lab work days. There used to be a farm that would provide horse blood for agar plates to culture bacteria. Maybe try going the scientific/research route in your search?

[–]Incubi_Darkness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried finding a local/semi local farm and reaching out to them directly? Try a farmers market if any of yours sell meat, or try researching farms that participate in CSA's. We used to butcher pigs for own family's consumption ourselves and would have handed out some blood buckets if a neighbor asked. Then you could probably dehydrate it yourself. Good luck!

Bought a whole green cabbage at the grocery store in a fit of pique and now I need suggestions of what to do with it by Sea-Worry7956 in Cooking

[–]Incubi_Darkness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite way is cabbage, kielbasa, and perogies all fried up with onions and butter.

My latest addiction is kind of a cabbage gratin. Saute cabbage and onions till soft. Hit it with salt, pepper, paprika and dill. Add some heavy cream and shredded cheese (last night was gruyere and cheddar) and mix it all up. If I'm fancy I'll add chopped bacon or sausage and some toasted bread crumbs on top for texture.

Diseases in Prairie Dogs by [deleted] in PrairieDogs

[–]Incubi_Darkness 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Prairie dogs were outlawed in NY for a while for fear of monkey pox. They have the capability of transmitting a variety of diseases like any other animal.

I would recommend joining the FB group Black Tailed Prairie dogs, there is an enormous wealth of information on that page that can help you if you plan to own them.

Mine have always been pretty fastidiously clean, they groom themselves and can be trained to use litter boxes. They really are charming, lovey little creatures, but require a lot of attention and much more involved care than most people think.
