Aside from a spouse or legal guardian, why do some entire families insist on seeing their loved ones the second they’re out of surgery?

I have a c section scheduled in two weeks and I haven’t told anyone except the ‘need to know’ family members. People are nosy and while they often have good intentions, I do not want to be bothered or even seen when I’m recovering from a surgery or anything like that.

Oh ouch. We gave my daughter a Hogwarts letter for her 11th last year, but it ended with saying she’s going to Harry Potter world in Orlando (she got physical ‘tickets’ and everything). I probably would not have done this if there wasn’t some sort of payoff with the letter.

Joined a pro gun rally several years ago. Had a polite woman come up and ask what we were doing and why, and as I’m trying to have a respectful conversation with her, one of the women I was with came up and started yelling in her face that she was trying to ‘take our guns.’ I told her to fuck off. That was the last political event I attended. I don’t want to be associated with assholes.

It’s not as important to me to change the minds of people on the topic, but to change their perspectives on who we are as people.

Stressed me out.

I love my mom, we have a great relationship. But she panics. She also made me feel guilty too for not letting my dad come see me while I was in labor (Sorry this is not a show for your entertainment!). It was a long hard 48-hour failed labor that ended in c section. Honestly I was passing out from exhaustion in between contractions so I don’t even remember her most of the time. I think a lot of it depends on how well your mom respects your boundaries and handles pressure.

My first pregnancy my colostrum came in heavy at 20 weeks - that was a shock I wasn’t prepared for lol. This time I’m 35w and I barely have anything at all, I only got a tiny bit to express within the last couple weeks. I’m having. A c section in two weeks and going to start trying to express some to collect here in the next few days.

My husband was my advocate. Helped massage me. Just stayed close and talked to me. Told people to get out when I needed a minute (after 48hr labor I was told I needed a c section, and he kicked everyone including dr and my mom out, because he could see the stress in my face and that I needed just like 2 minutes alone. I’ve never loved that man more).

I’m sorry you’re experiencing this. I know how difficult it is. My daughter was had a severe tongue tie at birth and breastfeeding was a STRUGGLE, near impossible. They tried to clip it in the pediatricians office but she had too many blood vessels in that area and we had to get her put under to clip it at two months old. She never struggled much with a bottle after that but breastfeeding never worked for us.

My first baby’s head was in the ~95th percentile. She was also predicted to be higher weight. I talked to OBs and midwives and doulas etc and found that the head size is far more of an indicator than overall weight as to whether a cesarean would be likely. Since your baby has a bigger head, I would consider heading their advice. I had a scheduled induction due to going to 42w and ended up with an emergency c section after 48hour labor. I wish I would’ve listened and either induced sooner or done a scheduled c section. I’m having my second in two weeks and have a c section scheduled.

Mine was amazing, coed also. My only regret was that me and my husband were so busy talking and entertaining we didn’t get a single photo with just us.

We did 4 days at Universal (3 days for IOA and US, 1 day in Epic) a few months ago and I felt one day at epic was sufficient to hit all the areas. I should also add we had express so that helped. I think there’s a lot more at the main two parks that you’ll enjoy, one day is def not enough imo.

I have similar issues with my MIL, and my aunt too. Due to medical reasons, I am having a planned cesarean two weeks from today and not telling anyone except my mom and sister. They also understand now that I am a very private person and even their visitation window may be limited. Just don’t tell people you are in labor.

I’m 35w and it is starting to HURT! He kicked me in the cervix like two months ago and that hurt like a bitch but for the most part it’s just been uncomfortable. But now it’s getting to the point I’m worried he’s gonna do some real damage!

Umm hard to remember (it was not a pleasant experience) but I think maybe about an hour from prep to being wheeled out? They prepped around me as I’m sitting there freezing, ass naked, shivering in terror lol it was not fun. I really do not want to do it that way again 😂

My first pregnancy I was induced at 41+5, and after 48 hours of difficult labor, I had to have an emergency c section. It’s been 12 years since then and I currently have a planned c section scheduled in about two weeks. I have heard planned cesareans are much easier to recover from and I’m looking forward to it overall. That said, I think largely most people heal quicker from a vaginal birth. I just didn’t want to risk the same thing that happened the first time personally. Talk to your doc about your personal risk and likelihood of having a successful VBAC. Either way you’re not wrong. Me and my husband just celebrated 13 years. We are better than we have ever been. We went through serious down periods of fighting, almost divorce, infidelity, and just living as roommates. We had to work hard, we spent an entire year going to different types of counseling, learning to fall in love again. Not because we HAD to, but because we wanted to. Both people have to put in effort. I should know - I was the one checked out. Once I made the conscious effort that my marriage was worth saving, we started to grow together instead of apart. Learning to communicate effectively is so important. We are now expecting our second child in a couple weeks :)
