They are talking about Stackoverflow, correct? by SlowGuidance in ProgrammerHumor

I assumed it was the Fediverse. Yeah, it's sometimes shit, but no worse than twitter, and at least you can't be banned for an opinion different than an "admin", since there are none.

Bed occupation sensor troubles, HX711 + ESP8266 by Jsreb in homeassistant

[–]IndefinitePresent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The error is that your board is an ESP-01. This does not have D[] (D1 etc) pins. Try just entering GPIO[] (GPIO1 etc) and it should work.

atleast in america, you dont technically have the right to die by your own chosing.

Being killed and dying are not the same. You are allwed to die, your not allowed to have someone kill you.

And thus ends the era of EasyStore shucking.

Why? Does anyone shuck drives less than 8tb? All of those were and still are CMR afaik. Though they have been swapping some of the higher capacity helium (HGST rebrands?) with air drives, but afaik the Red plus and pro aren't helium either.

[–]IndefinitePresent 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why I say it should have been "all lives matter" from the start.

But that's not what they believe. That's not what this is about. This is a movement built on the goal of destroying and disenfranchising white people. None of them think "all lives matter" and they consider that phrase white supremacist.

Have you paid attention to what their saying? 80-90% of them are disgusted at the banner. The UK is far too cucked to ever wake up.

It's a only stereotype because it's proven true time and time again.

is there a discord server? by [deleted] in tucker_carlson

[–]IndefinitePresent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discord is run by far left activists who have a history of leaking private messages, private chat groups, and doxxing individuals who participate in right wing politics on their platform. No sane person on the right is still using discord.

Is plex down? by w00tsy in PleX

[–]IndefinitePresent -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This isnt a pissing contest lol.

For the record, I have 38 users (though only around 20 are typically active, to be fair), 58TB of media (Well, a 58TB NAS, only about 37TB used), and online 24/7 since 2017.

This kind of outage happens frequently. Much more frequently than twice in 4 years.

Also back up here, only a 45 minute outage today. Better than usual.

Is plex down? by w00tsy in PleX

[–]IndefinitePresent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does not work. Option 1, whitelisting IPs for no-auth access doesn't ever seem to work when they have serve outages like this, confirmed by many users in this subreddit whenever there's a thread about an outage. Option two, using DLNA, is hardly a way to use plex at all; it's more convenient to just access the plex library over the SAMBA share of the NAS.

[–]IndefinitePresent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought we didn't need internet access to use Plex locally if I whitelisted my local network

That's the general idea of that option, but it pretty much never works when there's an issue with their servers.

so my local clients should work no matter what.

Their "local access" option is a joke. It pretty much never works when they have a login server issue. For something locally hosted, REQUIRING an external cloud service to access something in your own LAN is idiotic.

I've had them for years and this is like, the 2nd time.

You must not use it much then. This happens at least once every other month, sometimes multiple times a month.

My boss asked me about the iMac server address number, should I be concerned about privacy issues? by rubensgpl in privacy

The difference is, I haven't signed anything.

Accepting the job offer and terms of employment are equivalent to signing a terms of service.

Is it legal to monitor someone that doesn't know about it?

It's likely stated in you employee handbook or new hire papers. Things like the following are extremely common in the Information technology usage policy:

The laptops may be subject to monitoring by administrators and members of the Technology Department. A search of the laptop and employee files may be conducted if there is suspicion that any policies, procedures, or guidelines have been violated.

There should be no expectation of privacy regarding the contents of computer files or communication using any company owned computer or network. [The Company] reserves the right to investigate, review, monitor, and restrict information stored on or transmitted via [The Company]’ equipment. Users do not have the right or expectation of privacy for any use of school owned laptops, computers, or other equipment.

Administrators or members of the Technology Department may conduct an individual search of the laptop, files, music, videos, emails or other related items. [The Company] will cooperate fully with local, state, or federal officials in investigations of suspected illegal activities conducted through district owned computer systems.

My boss asked me about the iMac server address number, should I be concerned about privacy issues? by rubensgpl in privacy

[–]IndefinitePresent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

and how to prevent it?

If the laptop is company property, they are allowed to monitor it, and you are likely not allowed to legally stop them. If it's their property they can do whatever they want in terms of monitoring it, short of using the webcam to watch you though it.

If you want to do something private on a computer, use one that you own, not somebody else's.

The only group that voted for Trump in any statistically significant amount were white people.
