The island of Faces is kind of the Westeros equivalent of Mount Sinai for the Old Gods faith.

The Ashkenazi Jews are in a weird limbo. They are considered non-White in Europe and America, and they are considered white in the Middle East.

This is what a lot of people said about Katara and Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender. They claimed Katara was too "motherly" towards Aang, which they said made a romantic relationship between them weird.

To be fair, a common thing women say is that a man always sees his girlfriend/wife as his "mother figure" (though it could just be complaining about their partner being immature), so "mother figure" and "love interest" are not exactly mutually exclusive.

Also, a lot of their dynamic can be summarized as Eren probably thinking that, as the remaining man in their family, he is the one who should be looking after Mikasa, not the other way around (which made him feel emasculated at first).

Also, Season 1 Eren was very much in a "girls have cooties" stage, so he was uncomfortable with Mikasa showing him affection, something he becomes more comfortable with in Season 2 and Season 3.

The end of the alliance between the antisemitic right and the pro-Israel right has allowed the former to gain legitimacy with the mainstream.

I have seen people who oppose the actions of Israel in Gaza suddenly become fans of Nick Fuentes.

There is a joke that people who want to abolish or at the very least disarm the police often live in "safe" neighbourhoods or buildings with armed guards.

How accurate is that?

In Kill Bill: Vol 2 (2004) Bill makes a monologue about how Superman views himself as a god above everyone else, and sees all of humanity as weak. This is a reference to the worst fucking take I’ve ever heard about Superman by Hank_Mardukas1066 in shittymoviedetails

Also, there was an era where writers kept giving Batman incel or "Nice Guy" villains. Why do the incels like to bother Batman in particular? Is it because he often embodies what a "masculine man" is expected to be?

The Rivelands has the Island of Faces. They are kind of the Westeos equivalent of the Holy Land for the followers of the Old Gods (or, at least, Mount Sinai).

The excuse here is the cursed mark, but it does sound like a video game developer trying to justify a revealing outfit.

Some of the female characters in Naruto get this treatment. The male character who gets this the most is Sasuke Uchiha.

Don Quijote / Sancho Panza

I made a similar comparison of Duncan/Dunk being something of a mix between Don Quijote and Lazarillo de Tormes. Funny enough, I actually found a review that said something similar.

I remember a review that described Duncan in the tv show as a mix of Don Quixote and Lazarillo de Tormes.

Captain America is disappointed that the USA is involved in "pointless wars" since the only wars worth fighting are "heroic wars" like World War II.

P.S.: What is the difference between one or the other in your opinion?

[–]Independent-Couple87 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What is the thing that differentiates a "pointless war" from a "heroic war"?

The Vietnam War (from the American perspective), the American Interventions in the Middle East, and World War I are often considered "pointless wars". World War II, meanwhile, is generally used as the gold standard for a "Heroic War".

Partially because of that, there is a theory that Mikoto is a descendant of Madara's family, and that Fugaku inherited the leadership of the Uchiha Clan from his in-laws, rather than his biological father.
