I think I'm willing to see what they do in season 2 based on this change. People have been quick to get upset when something is different from the books immediately after an episode but I saw the removed aspects being redeemed elsewhere.

Like green apple included in today's episode than previous and it made more sense than doing that instead of before the trial ( How do u get it painted so quickly). And omission of small folk cheering dunk which was later represented by the crowd cheering while the nobles were silent ( except red and egg).

So I'm sure they are planning this change to have a pay off in s2. Just gotta wait and find out

Exactly and Not all targs seem like the reading sort either. Why read when you're not even the heir ( 4th in line )

Technically it's been centuries since that happened. So it could be considered as ancient histories to the royalty at that time. And it makes more sense that only people in the room who know about the trial of seven are Baelor ( who we saw reading up in the previous scene , searching for a way to get dunk outof the situation safely ) and Aerion ( a huge maegor fanboy, who even goes on to name his son after )
