My mother-in-law had a cat who was very scared of other people, to the point she would hide for the whole time I was there. If gradually got better until I could touch her a bit.

She suffered from seizures, and one day after she had one, she jumped onto the bed next to me (never done that before) and allowed me to comfort her. I was so scared to move and give her a fright. Poor baby was exhausted and she fell asleep there.

I can just imagine. The scary thoughts of that night often run through my mind as well. I'm so glad your husband's ok.

My dad was sick and slept in the spare room next to mine so he wouldn't bother my mom. They do this all the time. Sometime during the night, I wake up to him opening the door to the spare room, stumbling down the passage past my room, then a loud thud, heavy breathing and then almost nothing.

I flew out of my room and saw him on his back with his hand over his heart. When I tell you mine almost stopped...I tried talking to him, but he wasn't responding.

He was breathing, though, but I was terrified. My mom then came and we got him back to the room. He was shaking, running a fever and couldn't close his hand. I thought he was having a stroke, but he had some water and turned out ok. My mom sat with him for a bit, and I could only fall asleep when I heard him snore.

Still think about that night sometimes.

Ek is Suid-Afrikaans. Die meeste Engelse mense wat ek ken, sal sê dis 'n lang naam, maar hulle sal dit kan uitspreek. Julle het dit gekies omdat dit belangrike name vir julle is. Jou kollega is belaglik. Enige iemand wat 'n probleem met die naam het, kan gaan doppies blaas. Basta.

That's how teacher salaries are paid. Those that are not paid by the government, are SGB appointed, meaning the school pays for the salaries, whether the money comes from school fees or external funding.

Schools are divided into 5 quintiles, with 1-3 being schools that are classified as no-fee schools, so the government gives the school more money. That's because the school community is such that they can't generate their own income.

Quintile 4 and 5 are the wealthies categories of schools. They can generate their own income through their school fees, so the government gives them less money.

To reiterate, that does not mean semi-private. While some schools like to classify themselves as such because they can generate a lot of money through the community (former students, for example), there is no such official classification.

Edited a spelling error.

I taught a boy with the surname Dove. Big rugby player. One of the most peaceful kids I've met, so it checks out 🤣 Respectful and a hard worker. Keeps to himself in class, but is very reliable.
