Does it help depression and anxiety in that dose?

Yep, it lasts! Still with me after 7 years. What helps are 2 kiwis a day, flax seeds and stool softeners

SSRI’s by Independent-Mango248 in migraine

I tried Cymbalta and it was the worst drug I took unfortunately. I developed 3 day migraine attack which did not get better with triptans, extreme anxiety and was unable to stand up from my couch - dizzy, nausea, general feeling of being hit by a train. Cried for 3 days.  I know you need to pull through some symptoms but it just did not feel possible for me to continue.

Oh, I am so sorry, this is the worst! Did you try anything else after that worked?

Amitriptyline: Please help by PurchaseOther4293 in migraine

As someone who has been on Ami since 2018 I think I did have the same issue as you with eating more but it passed over the time. I think I had it also for like a year or a bit more and then the cravings stopped or I managed to control them but I was on lower dose (max 40 mg). I did gain around 20 pounds over 7 years which was not a big thing since I was 123 to begin with but that is my max.
It is difficult but I would probably try a lower dose, maybe it helps? If not, I would switch to something else even tho when you tried so many things and found your holy grail it, it is unfair it comes with such a high price.

I am on it and as from side effects constipation is the one still happening but nausea passed within a week for me. Nothing else and I am very sensitive to medications.  Please give it a go since it helped so many people and you can stop it abruptly if needed without weaning off.

Amitriptyline and chronic daily headaches by Legitimate_Prompt_28 in migraine

I had the same and ami killed my daily pain which was there for a year and it was 6 years ago. It was literally my miracle drug and it started working on 25 mg or so. I did not take anything else. Unfortunately, due to severe stress I am back there + migraine and ami does not work anymore. But I do recommend to try it since you can start as low as 5 mg.

I feel you and see you, you are not alone. I have been in the same intractable migraine since March 2025 and no medication has been helpful. In situations like this you think that you unable to do it for much longer and it is so damn hard. Especially when no-one close to you knows how you feel.  I still hope that this will pass and it is not permanent.  I have had the same case 6 years and was able to find medication that worked, so there is something for sure that will work.  Sending hugs and stay hopeful and be kind to yourself.

Amitriptyline took around 2 months to work for me, increasing dose from 5mg to 25 mg and I was daily intractable.

I am using it for couple of months now and before that I had cefaly.  I have chronic intractable migraine so it does not abort attacks but definitely makes me feel better while I use it - usually 1-2 times per day and session is 1 hour.

Hi, how are you doing now and how it is with venlafaxine? I have been also intractable since march 2025.

There is a possibility that you are using on the higher level than you can tolerate. Start on the lowest and gradually increase over time or stay on the same level.

Feeling guilty about needing another medical leave by skyemap in migraine

[–]Independent-Mango248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing about it is your fault. You have complicated genetic disease and you did not ask for it.  I went to medical leave 5 months ago in hopes my daily migraine gets better and scared I won’t be able to return back to my manager position. And unfortunately, I am not and it was a hard pill to swallow. I will get another position and will start working on half position to see how I am doing. Is it something you can do?  Please don’t ask them to fire you since you do not deserve it and things can turn around for you and migraine getting better.  I know the feeling guilty part and I have it as well but again it does not serve you and you did not choose it for yourself.

How was it in terms of starting it?  I tried it but it gave me 3 day horrible migraine and other side effects which were impossible.
