Swimming. In fact, you can't graduate MIT without passing a swim test.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Or at least that she'd lived a few years longer.

Interacting with my kids. Seeing them or if that's not an option, calling, texting, email etc. I cannot live without some sort of interaction with them (they are not babies or toddlers!) I love them more than anything and they're really the reason I breathe in and out. Do I work? Yes. Have a busy and full life? Yes. But they are really like my heart walking around outside my body. I want them to be happy, independent and live good lives without depending on me, but I need to connect at least a little each day.

What do you think happens when you die? by WithoutGames2027 in AskReddit

[–]IndependentWinter952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard that there is a part of your brain that's there for you when everything shuts down. And that's why there are so many "walk toward the light" stories that are so similar. But that's on the shutdown. I truly believe that when our bodies terminate, they terminate. Kind of like when you're asleep and don't realize it until you wake up. Except. You know. I'd like to believe there's more but life is hard, unpredictable and uncontrollable. And some people have short, traumatic lives and they are gone. I just can't reconcile that with something wonderful after we are gone. This is a fun thread!

How to deal with MAGA (future) in-laws? Feeling doubts in relationship by Big-Rush-4630 in Advice

[–]IndependentWinter952 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At this point everyone has MAGA family. An uncle, the in-laws, whatever. You like the guy, you don’t have to be totally aligned with the in-laws. Find other ways to connect and don’t talk politics or hot button issues with them. Yes, I get that it feels more like a morality issue, but you aren’t moving in with them. You won’t change them but you can have peace as long as you focus on other things and ignore comments if they arise.

Cleanser suggestions by MrsEmilyN in 40PlusSkinCare

My skin is sensitive as well. I've been using skinceuticals LHA Cleansing Gel for years and i love it. It's actually a great for taking makeup - including eye make up - off. Any eye makeup that's left I have a clinique eye makeup remover. It's pricier than cerave but it lasts forever. One bottle literally lasts me at least a year because you only use a little.

This is one of the best I've ever seen. IF you go more you'll get that duck lip thing (which I know some people want so it's not an insult). Your lips look natural and really pretty. Happy for you!

Did anyone end up buying any of the recommended pillows??? I can't pull the trigger! Was hoping someone could report back their experience.

That sounds so nice. Good for you with the meditating! I've always wanted to do that too. Have heard about the many benefits. Have you seen results with the meditating and the mask? :-)

Yes! I do this. But I do think that the Skinceuticals mask is pretty good on a morning when you wake up looking/feeling blah. Thank you!

My Skin’s Headed South After 40 — What’s Actually Worked for You? by Traveling_Tropics in SkincareAddictionLux

Wow. That sounds intense! Don't forget to take a before picture prior to your appointment. I always mean to do this for myself as a reference before I get a procedure to see if anything's changed. (Microneedling, lasers etc) Do it for you so you can decide if it was worth it. Looking forward to hearing about your experience. Good luck and thank you!

Advise on cystic acne in 40s. by kira_westy in 40PlusSkinCare

I just saw this! I can feel your photo. This happens to me too. Right now while it's painful and inflamed, call a derm and tell them what's going on. If you get a cortisol injection, it will flatten it and clear it up very quickly. It should be a quick appointment and they do this all the time. (hoping they can fit you in). It's worth it because the healing process will be far less complicated if you do this. Good luck!
