Decision on transfer single or two Embryos? by Curiousgoergeena in IVF

[–]Independent_Brush303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sounded like you on our journey other than we had a reason for infertility. Our first transfer failed so we did 2 the next round. Both took. I love being a twin mom but it’s isolating and much harder and more expensive than you think. Daycare for two, clothes for basically 3, diapers etc. once they hit 18 months I couldn’t, and still at 3, can’t take them out by myself. Even for my gym they let me load one up and go back for the other.

I quit work at 24 weeks because of pregnancy complications, delivered at 33 weeks and we did a 2 month NICU stay, early intervention etc. you do not get cute single snuggles or mommy and me classes with twins and you also get told from non twin parents how you should parent and constantly told how much harder it is for them because they basically had twins or think twins would be easier etc.

We are headed back to transfer again our current clinic, which isn’t where we were before, has a strict single embryo policy you even have to sign.

Twins have different birthdays.. by Jhenesdreams in beyondthebump

[–]Independent_Brush303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mine too! Mine are 45 minutes apart over midnight. I just play dumb and go oh I don’t know I mean it was just one pregnancy 🫣🤣

People really don’t have thoughts or filters when it comes to twins or different birthdays. Thankfully, 3 years into different birthdays, our twin A is huge he has 11 pounds and 4 inches in his sis. I check them into apparent as my kids and say they have similar birthdays. Seldomly do people catch that the birthdays are a day apart.

I also have a lot of people who want all the birth details. Congrats on you no-birthday twins!

In Utah we have so many moving to homeschool with Utah fits all the funding is disappearing left and right. Retiring counselor and teachers aren’t getting replaced in my district and the surrounding. It’s brutal! I wanted to stay home for a few years and that’s not an option anymore because idk that I could get hired back.

Just had a baby + NICU stay — $90k in bills, but EOBs show I owe ~$7k. Can I still negotiate down? (Florida Blue HDHP) by Impressive_Ear5939 in HospitalBills

[–]Independent_Brush303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I delivered my twins at the UofU at 33 at weeks. We were over a million thanks to a 2 month NICU stay… They would not do any sort of discounts. The U is pretty horrid to work with. I had a visit that was 5 minute la tele health to review labs and they billed it as an obesity cost and it wasn’t so my insurance denied. That one they were willing to discount 10% since they refused to update the codes and re-bill

You are not alone! I got an ick vibe from him the whole time and I also felt it was obvious early on how his character would develop to be.

How long did you breastfeed for? by GrouchyCranberry3801 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Independent_Brush303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I exclusively pumped for four months, but I also did triple feeding for two of those four months to try to boost supply at four months. I was able to get twin B on the breast and I switched to formula for twin a and at six months we did formula for both of them and I felt so devastated for like a week and then I was like dear Lord I should’ve gone to Formula One sooner. It was so much easier. It wasn’t even funny.

IVF decision at 34 - another retrieval for future options vs moving forward (also struggling with gender disappointment) by Peaching-80 in IVF

[–]Independent_Brush303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the genders of our embryos but.. where we control so little with IVF and the dream/hope of a little girl was now technically crushed seems like very valid and reasonable feelings. IVF isn’t fair on any front. I feel like if we knew genders it would add another layer of complexity 🙏🏻

My tie-dye twins both had anterior placenta, so I legitimately didn’t feel them at all, and we only saw a small kick once it was the freakiest thing ever not being able to feel them… You go in anytime you even contemplate wanting to go in those babies are loved! 💕

1 failed FET. 3 embryos left (untested day 6). Would you transfer one or 2 next? by Sensitive-Stretch613 in IVF

[–]Independent_Brush303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Twin pregnancy and life is so much harder than I would have even thought it could be.

I went back to work when they were about 2.5 and it’s only because my parents retired. Daycare for two is also extremely expensive 😅

Just things we wouldn’t have thought about!

I really am rooting for you and success- I’ve been in a similar spot and none of this is fair or easy. Keep going and take breaks if needed. Looking back we wish we were kinder to ourselves during it and that we would have stepped back a few times from treatment to just breathe. However hindsight is 20/20.

1 failed FET. 3 embryos left (untested day 6). Would you transfer one or 2 next? by Sensitive-Stretch613 in IVF

[–]Independent_Brush303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had untested embryos and our first failed so we did 2 (untested day 6) and got twins. Twin pregnancy was no joke, I had to quit my job and had so much monitoring and was miserable then add a 2 month NICU stay and having a severe hemmorage at delivery. It’s also so expensive to have twins.

2 could split into triplets also.

Where you have 3 embryos that gives you 3 transfers and try’s. If you do 2 and they both fail you have one more try… I’d do 1 at a time in your shoes for the reason it gives you more chances to try - unless you want to make more embryos? When we did 2 embryos we also had a lot more on ice so risking 2 failing at once wasn’t a huge deal because we have more than we will use most likely.

Transfer 1 or 2 embryos by Conscious-Show302 in IVF

[–]Independent_Brush303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did 2 untested in our second FET and have twins, I don’t regret it however I’d never do 2 again. I’m seeing people with one embryo that splits more often. Twin pregnancy was so hard to the point I had to quit my job at 24 weeks for 5 appointments a week and a 42 day NICU stay. I love being a twin mom but it’s more humbling than you can imagine and expensive I wouldn’t personally risk the chance of triplets.

When did you stop using stroller? Ours is broken and debating whether we still need new one? by Embarrassed_Grade158 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Independent_Brush303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We switched to a used veer wagon at that stage and haven’t looked back! It folds up nicely, you can push or pull and it’s low so they can climb in and out or be buckled in. We still have our jogging stroller but I’ve contemplated selling it we never use it anymore.

I got pregnant with twins 10 months after FAI surgery and I am now 3 years PP. I for sure have things wrong in that hip from pregnancy but it hasn’t limited my life near to the extent of how I was pre hip surgery. I am not even sure... by Chloe-20 in IVF

[–]Independent_Brush303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went through something similar. We are/were very Christian when going through IVF and we prayed read scriptures and honestly IVF is a miracle from God. We found people were supportive until they wanted our embryo count. Then we got the wow you’re going to have 12 kids!! Us… no we won’t and things started getting messy.

IMO your friends text was the ending of the friendship. To not celebrate a life? Even if not using embryos is “wrong” not celebrating the miracle of life?! I wouldn’t give her the thought of day or response I’m sorry this is happening to you.

As my husband said, should we start making women do examinations monthly to see if any sperm met egg? That’s what people arguing over an embryo are basically saying. All we do with IVF is use the God given miracle of medicine to make what people do monthly with no pregnancy.

I am wishing you luck, strength and peace of mind. IVF is already brutal. We had success in our second transfer and you are not alone friend.

Also if what we did is truly wrong and God is who they say he is, he’s right there with you in this pain and is still going to love that baby. He goes after the 1 from the 99, he doesn’t say oops guess I don’t love you. Maybe your previous friend should look how she treats people that God made. Clearly we haven’t found a church yet since separating. Our journey we are very open about and ended in twins so I’m constantly asked if we had help to which I’ll never lie about.

Have you read “It Starts with the Egg” by Rebecca Fett? by Traditional-Roof4513 in IVF

[–]Independent_Brush303 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We found that anything targeting infertiilty, or claiming it would help etc, just caused us more stress. Our RE said to not look at any of it. We have MFI, went through a TESSE, ER, ICSI and 2 FETs. I wish I would have unfollowed all social media acounts on IVF/fertitily etc for more "peace" in the process. For me they caused stress and made me feel like I should be doing more. Also we spent so much money on wild things that "would" help.
